You all werent happy with Sam Cassel and Robert Horry so you yelled and demanded we get Barkley bc of the foolish root "we need to win championships". So they get traded and in doing demolish a Back to Back champion for to please "the houston fan" cry for championships.and the result? Straight lotto for the next five years, when it could of been way less. Twhat happened? it depletes their young talent forcing them to sign free agents. Fair enough, we fast foward a couple of years Rudy t rebuilds with no wiggle room. Gets lucky and has a promising backcourt and pretty good 4 in Kenny Thomas and with even more joy lands the top pick.And finally gets his big man. Then The guy gets cancer and is getting heat for not being in the playoffs for past years of trying to rebuild. Does a good job and was on the way to taking HIS rebuilt team to the playoffs but again cancer treatment forced him to miss the last months of the season. Again, Houston Fans are irate because of the sour end. They scream for a firing of one of Houston's greatest sports legends. A guy who brought one back to back championships to a barren sports town. A guy who made a DREAMS potential to a reality. Who had a knack to get superstars to play together as a team. So after fans boo and holler we get a new coach. Not only that a coach whose system was beaten by the leaving coach. Now the end result an unexciting team devoid of any heart. Knock the past players who've been here and gone but one thing Rudy always looked for in players and encouraged in his players and that was heart. For the Rockets organization to change and start to have winning attitudes is two things ;better fans and a heart transplant. Its cause and effect. Cause for no heart? houston Fans.
there's some famous cliche about hindsight... and I think you're begging for one here. Also, there weren't 5 straight years of lotto after the Barkley trade... that 1997 year was one of the most fun non-championship Rocket years ever, and that team was two games away from the finals. And newsflash... we weren't going to get that close that year without Barkley.

if houston fans suck because they moan and cry about the level and type of play that our current ROX demonstrate... then I am a sucky houston fan. it is so hard to like this current team. not the players so much as our style of play. in fact... the style of play found across the NBA generally sucks. Memphis, Utah (gasp), Seattle, Dallas and Phoenix are really the only teams that are fun to watch and of those... only Memphis and Utah (gasp) currently play the game the way it is meant to play. so many "true" fans of basketball prefer college basketball with it's emphasis on teamwork, passing and fundamentals to the current nba game. but even the college game is changing as too many schools are selling out for the services of a superstar player who wants to showcase his skills for one or two years max before jumping to the nba. i for one would rather watch a high school basketball game in houston right now than i would a nba game in houston right now.

Right now our team sucks. The Rockets are lucky they have fans who will last through five years, one month of disappointments.

And this is even after the Hakeem Olajuwon contract dispute with Charlie Thomas. It took some tinkering to get a playoff team to the Championship and it didn't happen in one year.
Jack Hammer, So if you're not happy with your team, you should just sit there and cheer and pretend you're okay with everything. Van Gundy is the wrong coach for this team and we're not afraid to let the Rockets organization know it. We suck right now and haven't improved at all after 20 games. The next time we tank a game to one of the worst teams in the Eastern conference 75-73, I better see you on t.v. cheering and giving hugs.
Give us something to cheer about then we will cheer. If you want to cheer about JVG killing the Rockets then go ahead. No ones booing about the rockets "not gelling" . You are the one that is uninformed. If we all the sudden go on a win streak and do really good in December like we should, it won't be because JVGs system is finally setting in, it's because he is being less stubborn and letting his players be more creative.
