I've been living here in the Great WHITE North for a few years and am getting tired of hearing about all of the viewing parties and etc. going on in Clutchfans. I'm also tired of all of the crap that I have to put with as a Texan living among people who idolize Hubert Humphrey. For game seven of the NLCS last year I was the only real Stro's fan at the downtown sports bar and was outnumbered 10-1 by Card fans. I went with Twins fans who only showed up out of sympathy. Also the last time the Stros played at the Metrodome Lance Berkman hit a grandslam and it was like I was the only one cheering. So are there any other beleagured Houston fans our there in the lands of cheese, walleyes and non-spicy food? Any misplaced Houston fans up for Rockets, Stros and Texans viewing parties in the Twin Cities and going to go see the Stros' play the Brewers? They've got a state of the art stadium in Milwaukee with lots of seats available. C'mon I know that among all those fields of corn, soybeans, dairy cattle, Viking fans and other barnyard animals there's some people rooting Houston teams.
I live in Houston, but I do know of a Houston pro sports and UT Longhorns fan who lives in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. I always thought he was the only Houston/UT fan for a several hundred mile radius around Wisconsin Rapids.
Well I live in Houston but because of my job I will be in MN the week of April 24th. I'm not sure when the playoffs start but I am betting there will be a game or 2 that week. I am going to scour the twin cities to find a place to catch the rockets. I can't miss the opening playoff series. the 'stros play in pitts that weekend so no dice there.
I would suggest the Minneapolis Downtown Champps. Let me know when you're going to be in town and I will be glad to join you. I'll see if I can scrape up a few dissafected T-Wolves after they get shut out of the playoffs and convert them to the way of the T and the Yao.
Minnesota is for losers. Oh, wait. Yeah, I'd love to get together with some Rockets Fans to watch some playoff games. (My fiancee didn't like me giving her high fives during last years playoffs - said it hurt her hand) Do you live in the Twin Cities? I live in Minneapolis down by Lake Harriet. I'm not alone. . .
My uncle lives near Lake Harriett but he's lived in MN since coming from Taiwan in the early 70's. Hopeless T-Pups fan. No luck converting him even with Yao. I'm near the U of MN. Let's get a Rockets Viewing Party for the Upper Midwest!
Rockets fan trapped in MN bides his time since 2001, lurking patiently, posting infrequently, then voila, the thread of his dreams appears! I'm not convinced that this isn't Sishir C posting under another account to drum up interest....
That's the beauty of the Internet. You never know who is who. HAHAHA Actually I tried to change my nic a few years back and for some reason couldn't. So I've been stuck with it.
Yeah, once this thread fades away, my usefulness on these boards is pretty much over. I should enjoy this while it lasts. Ahh, Good Times
Well now that Rocket Fan Trapped in MN is stuck on 69 posts there goes my hope of having Clutchfans North.
So I guess this is it. There are only two Clutchfans in the whole damn state of Minnesooota. I'm betting there are more T-pups fans in TX.
Yep, I am a displaced Houstonian. 33 years in Houston, 14 in Lakeville, MN. (20 miles or so south of the Twin Cities). I have made the trek to Milwaukee twice for Brewers/Astros series and we'll probably head down to KC this year. Eventually we'll make it to Chicago, but the past couple of years, the timing hasn't worked out.
I went to school at St. Olaf in Northfield, MN (about 15 minutes south of Lakeville) and every weekend we would drive up to the giant movie theater in Lakeville to catch some flicks. Ahh, the memories. So, now what? I've got league pass for another 2 weeks and 7 games if anyone can think of a game they'd want to watch between now and then. Clutchfans North Rules!! P.S. Having 69 posts yesterday was great, but now I think I'm ready to move on . . .
Hey, I resemble that remark! To wit: I LIVED in Iowa. I graduated from the University of Iowa. I did, however, smarten up and move the hell back to Texas 1.5 years ago.
