Here is a preview from FoxSports.com...Pretty much dead on IMO...I'm pretty excited about the upcoming season and can't wait.... Cougars 2005 Schedule 9/1 Oregon 9/10 Sam Houston State 9/16 at UTEP 9/24 Southern Miss 10/1 at Tulsa 10/8 at Tulane 10/15 Memphis 10/22 at Miss State 11/5 at UCF 11/12 SMU 11/26 Rice We should easily win 7 - 8 games with this schedule...Kolb should put up huge numbers....go Coogs!!!
They should go around 7-4. Hopefully the defense steps up this year and another big year from Vincent Marshall.
zzzzzz CUSA is like a minor league. The fact that the Cougars could win the whole thing shows what a joke it is. Cougars have been dead ever since UH was left out of the Big 12.
I went to the UH-Rice game last year at Reliant. Watching Rice spank UH was embarrassing. I've got no faith in Cougar football, regardless of how easy CUSA is.
I think Oklahoma, Miami, and Michigan got scared. 11-0. They can't escape playing us in the bowl games. Eventually they will face the fear.
I'm a Cougar, but hidden in the closet. Football hasn't been great at UH since the late 80s/early 90s w/ the Run-and-Shoot. Basketball has sucked, but baseball has been pretty good for them. My freshman year at UH in '96, now that's when they had a great year - 1st in Conference and going to a bowl game. Ever since then, the team has gone down the toilet (except 2003, but they still sucked). But I heard this Kolb kid is pretty good. Let's see how he does. So far, UH QBs haven't fared very well in the NFL.
CUSA is definitley not a Big 12, but I never said it was...Granted, do I wish we were, sure, but that's how it goes...Also, athletics at UH has been out of it for a while, I agree, but you still gotta love it, with Football, Basketball and Baseball on the rise...
Yeah that was pretty bad. After scoring all of those points in 2003 and then let Rice hold you to 7points was as low as it could get. I have a feeling they will blow Rice out this season.
The reason they were left out of the Big 12 is because of no fan support. The Cougars couldn't fill the Dome even when they had a Heismann on the team. I used to watch some good football teams in a practically empty stadium, and the losing seasons arrived.

That was part of the politics that ended up shaping the four SWC schools heading to the Big 12. The economics of the situation though didn't lend itself to the Cougars even being considered. If the Cougars had stronger fan support at the time, I bet the SEC would have given them a call after the SWC went bellyup.
