Anyone have a good feeling for how the Houston-area housing market is doing? I have a couple of job opportunities coming up, but they would require moving out of the area. Unfortunately, we bought our current home in September 2006. I'm just trying to get a feel for where things are before deciding what to do.

It stinks right now pretty much all over.

The market is oversaturated with builders trying to get rid of their inventory before the end of the year. They have more wiggle room on their pricing than resales do.

Also, mortgage lenders have really tightened their belts, which means there are fewer buyers out there than there used to be.

Oh and you have the whole Holiday Season where most aren't looking to make a move (pulling kids out of school and forking over the down payment and closing costs).

I'd have some wiggle room on when I move. It definitely wouldn't be until after the end of the year anyway. Probably March or April.
