Need to get my grill checked out/cleaned and possibly filed. Got no dental ins, so imma be paying out of pocket.

Also, anyone tried invisalign? I need to get some braces and I'd rather go the invisalign route than tradition braces.

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of them jacking your credit cards while you're under anesthesia, but that could also be a possibility...

If you need braces, then invisalign probably will not work for you. It is used primarily for patients with small gaps between teeth, i.e. a gap inbetween your two front teeth. Invisalign is pretty much a bleaching tray a little smaller than your mouth. Your dentist will change them out periodically with a smaller size in order to close your gap.

more along the lines that i have buck teeth and i wanted to get them pushed back a bit. it's not that bad, so i figured invisalign would suffice, but that starts at 3500.

That's not true.. I mean Invisalign is for that, but it can be for much more.

I'm in the middle of Invisalign, and my lower teeth were all out of whack. Half of them had collapsed inward, so Invisalign is pulling them back out to normal.

The part about the switching to a "smaller size" isn't true either. That may be true IF they're closing gaps...but it's basically moving you towards a final position. So if it's not closing gaps, they won't get smaller...they'll just get closer to your goal in small, incremental steps.

It's true that there are a few things Invisalign can't help with--I'd see a dentist that's Invisalign certified to find out if it can help your teeth (and yeah, obviously a recommendation is helpful...I'm seeing a dentist out in Philly by recommendation even though I live in the DC area). They'll even show you pictures of exactly what your teeth will look like when it's over before you start everything.

Without insurance, realize Invisalign is pretty damn expensive. imo, not worth it without insurance unless you're pretty well off and have the $$ to spare.

I had a really good dentist/dental office in the Southwest Houston area, but I won't recommend him because I think his equipment was a little behind the times and not looking to upgrade anytime soon. And I don't think he does Invisalign (or ortho work) anyway..

Only if you come to LA, otherwise, be ready to over charge for 1000% by the dentist.

I mean, the cost is just REDICOULOUS.

My dentist was/is pretty reasonable. He sets me up on affordable payment plans whenever a procedure is a lot of money. I remember I didn't get braces until I was 19 and I was able to pay them off at around $50 a month.
