Well we get the all-star game in 2006, my question to you is will Houston be cleaner with better downtown business or it will it still be the 5 minute drive of nice area then trash/construction then nice area then trash/construction again? Basically will we still hear the same complaints that our vistors had from the Superbowl and MLB All-Star game about being an eyesore?

Oh please; would you rather it be ALL ****hole like it was a little more than 5 years ago???

Construction=progress. Be patient if you want a nice Houston for years to come.

Come on now, there were a lot more positive remarks left after the Super Bowl then negative ones.

sorry my post was perceived as whining, i didnt mean for it to, but when i look at how long it takes for city politics to get anything benificial to the city past it is just discouraging. besides i think the parts where the elite live and shop will be ready im just wondering about the places houston's elite dont go to and where out of towners get lost at will be atleast decent. oh and yes progress does take time but come on look how long it took for the rockets to get a new arena in this town, progress shouldnt take that long, also look how long it took for the 59S exit to be open from i-10 east...just wish the city will give more incentive to finish construction in a shorter time.

    jondoe -

where'd you hear that criticism during the super bowl or all star game?

i was a national media hound during both events, keying in to perception of the city...other than bill simmons on espn, everyone had nice things to say. the espn radio guy at night talked over and over again about how great houston is and how adept it is at handling these sorts of events with all the new venues.
