http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/metropolitan/729768 Conservative political crusader Steven Hotze of Houston, who once listed the law against drunken driving as an example of religious morality, was charged Thursday with driving while intoxicated. Hotze, a Christian activist whose endorsements heavily influence the election of Harris County judges and other officials, denied he was drunk when he was stopped by a police officer in Memorial Park about 1:30 a.m. "He unequivocally states that he was not intoxicated," said Hotze's lawyer, former prosecutor Terry Yates. Prosecutor Lyn McClellan said Hotze, a 50-year-old physician, failed a police officer's sobriety test. Hotze was stopped after his car weaved across the lanes of Memorial Drive and crowded several vehicles, including a police car that had to veer onto a curb to avoid a collision, McClellan said.
