    I have four hotmail accounts.

Two of them were increased to 250 MB storage and the other two were left at 2MB

I dont know why those two were selectively chosen.

Anyone else get a surprise from Hotmail?

Why anyone would still use hotmail in today's world is completely beyond my grasp. First off, I'd never take anyone that has a hotmail account seriously. Second, there's so much damn spam. Third, it just sucks.

Why? There are so many better options out there.

Yahoo did that right before the gmail accounts came out, and I've been waiting for hotmail to respond, but I haven't seen it. If it's happened to a couple of your accounts, maybe they're testing it, and will soon bump everyone's up?

They definitely need to. Some emails I get (and send) can take up a pretty sizeable chunk of the allotted hotmail storage space.

    Curses! Another dream crushed!:)

I had been paying $20/year for extra storage. Once Gmail upped the ante, Hotmail, Yahoo and others all jumped on board to remain competitive. I was automatically upgraded to 2 gigs of space and can send/receive 20MB attachments. Don't know what the stats are on free accounts, though.

I used to have an account with mail.com. Horrible. Horribly horribly slow, and TONS of ads.

I've never had any issues with my hotmail account, so I see no reason to change it. I have a gmail account if I did want to, but changing my address all over the net would be a big pain in the ass...

Mine haven't increased... But then again, the only reason I still have it is to communicate with my HS buddies twice a year...

I believe they're rolling it out slowly. They decided to bumb up the accounts about the time Yahoo did it. But you know Microsoft.

I don't get nearly as much spam in Hotmail as I do in Yahoo. I probably get 100 spam emails a day in Yahoo, and it catches all but about two or three a day. I look through them periodically, but Yahoo has been so reliable that I don't even need to look. They've never put a real email in the junk folder. I have my Hotmail account set to allow emails only from people on my safe list. I still look through my junk email folder in Hotmail, which gets maybe ten or twelve a day. If I register something, I usually do it with my Hotmail account. I check my junk folder after registering, add the new email address or domain name to the safe list, then usually never have a problem with anything from that company/Web site again. Rather than scanning my inbox to see what spam I've received, I just have to scan the junk folder to see if I happened to get a real email. If I do, I add the address/domain to the safe list. With only ten or twelve spam emails a day, that's not too hard. The problem with Hotmail accounts is that the people who sign up for them frequently opt into the Hotmail directory. If you uncheck the box when signing up, you won't have as much of a problem.

Hotmail has the crappiest spam blockers on earth. I used to use my account so much then i started getting 100 spam emails a day so i gave up on it.

I changed my settings and that was good for the most part only having people send me email that were on my contact list but then if someone else who was actually a friend emailed me and wasn't on that contact list it would get blocked.

There is no middle ground with them at all...another reason microsoft can suck it

I have 2 hotmail accounts, and both of them haven't upgrade yet. I can't wait for them to upgrade mine.

BTW, I don't know why so many people complaint about hotmail. I never have problem with hotmail, in fact, it's my favorite. I never have any spams send to my email account, occasionally, one or two, but it's never a problem. Some of you get spams in your account maybe because u give out your email address to spammer, that maybe the reason why.

I just found out that if you create a new free hotmail account now, you can't intergrated it with outlook express. With the possibility of old free accounts not being able to be accessed by express in the future very likely. All part of the "upgrade" from "security pack 2".

I've defended Microsoft in the past and still b believe they're a good company (well useful) but crap like this irritates the heck out of me.

I dunno i have given other emails out to normal things and i don't get as much spam as i do hotmail. I am wondering why they don't do a better job of it. Just doesn't make sense to me how they can't block it as well as other companies.

Mine is still at 2mb and i really don't use it since i got GMAIL and my Road Runner account.

Just be careful who you give out your email address to, I guess that's the best way to prevent spam, MAYBE.
