Saw this on Reddit: stay here frequently when on business. Hotel was booked solid and my colleague managed to score a room unplanned. We all had normal zaza style rooms (swank) and he ended up in this goth dungeon closet. Seriously- the room had a chain holding the bed to wall, pictures of skulls and a creepy, incongruous portrait of an old man. Room was about 1/3 the normal size with the furniture blocking part of the TV, bed and window. We asked about it at the front desk and the clerk looked it up and said " that room isn't supposed to be rented.' and immediately moved him. Anyone know whats up with this room?http://imgur.com/a/Hshw0#0 Any ideas Clutchfans.. Whats up with this room.. http://www.reddit.com/r/houston/comments/18pt71/zaza_insiders_question_whats_up_with_room_322/
I know there are some wealthy folk in Houston (finance field) who have permanently booked rooms at higher end hotels to basically meet up with their mistresses on a regular basis. It seems as if these are one of those permanently rented rooms which aren't supposed to be open to the public. Whichever clerk at the front desk who made that room available has probably already been fired.
This is true, however they are just normal rooms.. at least at my hotel. This is probably one of their creepy fetish "suites" that they only rent to those who request it. It sounds like they weren't fully booked if they were able to move you to another room so easily.
Location most likely, I know that's why my Hotel can charge an arm and a leg.. it doesn't hurt we have a world class health club guest's can use included in their rate. Birdman was staying in our Presidential Suite this weekend for 3,500 a night @ 4 nights.. mind boggling amounts of money really.
that thread on reddit is interesting they have all sorts of things figured out already. two way mirror.....
like brightside referenced, makes sense that a small and normally unusable space was created for a wealthy client or clients for whatever debauchery they wanted to perform.
You were explicitly told by that black man not to go in that room. You had no business going into that room.
On reddit looks like they're leaning towards Jay Comeaux, formerly of the Stanford Financial Group in Houston. He looks like the one in the picture. He hosted a party there while it was still under construction and has had more than a few events at the hotel.
I've been there a couple of times (never had a room or anything). It's the only place I've ever been that has unisex bathrooms. I didn't even realize the bathroom was unisex until I had my wang hanging out at the urinal when a couple of girls walked in an nonchalantly went into a couple of the stalls.
Pretty much what I figured, the "2 way mirror" is a simple design trick to make the room look larger, it really isn't 2 way. Typical PR trying to put a positive spin on an obviously awkward room, haha.
