I'll be heading to New York September 13th and coming home on the 16th to see an act that I've dreamed of seeing live for the past 10 years - Underworld! Underworld is making a rare appearance in the US and they'll be joined by James Holden. Ticket info can be found HERE if there are any other Underworld groupies out there.

Anyways....the show is at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, so we need to find a room for a couple nights. Is there anywhere decent in that area to get a room where the prices aren't outrageous, of are we gonna pay through the roof? We'd like to find a room in the $200/night range if possible (or less.) So help me out my NYC clutcfans brothers, what hotels should we look into? I'll also make a thread later on to ask suggestions on where to go while we are in town, and hopefully even get to meet some of you guys.

If you just going for the concert and don't care aobut the citylife, why not get a room in south Brooklyn (not downtown) for like $100 bux a night? Sure it might be kind of ghetto, but it'l save you a few hundred bucks.

It's not very nice (it's like a cheap hostel) but you can get a room in the YMCA right by Central Park for $100 a night.

I'd try looking on Craig's List for short term stays. Often-times subletting a nice place is better than most hotel accomodations in NYC. My brother recently went out of town and he put up his place (in Hell's Kitchen) for $110/night.. so there are good deals out there.

Every time i go to New York with my boss for conventions he uses priceline and gets the rooms for under 200 bucks and in times square. We stayed at the Paramount Hotel one time and the other time i can't remember the name but they were both great 4 star hotels for under 200 bucks a night.

Priceline really does work for New York. Just put the zip code or area you want to stay and set your price....i know it doesn't work as well for some other cities but the places we stayed in New York these past few times were awesome.

Radio City apartments rents by the night and you get a little kitchen and everything. Even the studio ($175 a night) has a kitchenette.

If you interested, the wife and I will be on vacation that week (returning on the 16th) and we might be able to work out a deal. We have a nice one bedroom apartment in Sunnyside Queens (4 stops into Queens on the subway and an easy shot to Central Park).

Shoot me an email through the board.

No point of Kitchenette. You probably won't be cooking anyways. Housekeeping would be more useful. Try Hotels.com and see if you can find a good deal near the Park or around Midtown.

Go in style. The Kitano is a really cool, luxurious Japanese themed hotel. It's kind of expensive but quite nice.

I've recommended this in half the other 50 threads asking for New York hotels, but I highly recommend the Mansfield on 44th Street. It's close to Times Square, it's nice, has an incredible staff, and somewhat less expensive. (I've gotten in for $125/night in September, call and haggle.)
