Rocketman95: Thanks for the insight. When you start getting sources other than your local paper and the internet let me know. Here's another hot topic for you that just came through. Did you know Maurice Taylor will be in town to quote "look around." ------------------
ROTFLMAO!! Hey Moe, here's that ClutchCity101 you asked for: How to get famous on the BBS....real fast... [*]sources (EG: "My sources tell me Steve Francis will be starting at point guard for the Houston Rockets next season.") ------------------ "My sources tell me Rudy Tomjanovich is head coach of the Houston Rockets."
That's interesting. Where did you hear that -- or how solid is what you heard I should ask. My guess is Maurice is "looking around" for a rebound... hell, one will do. Why he's looking for it in Houston no idea ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
My guess is Maurice is "looking around" for a rebound... hell, one will do HAHAHAHA.. Clutch, Im dying of laughter. ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
Hey Clutch, He's more than 90% certain not to be a Clipper. There are few a few teams that need his services and Houston is one of them. As we all know, no offical talks between players and ballclubs can take place until July 1. So he's sight seeing, trying to get a feel for what his net worth will be on the market and where he might be calling home for the next few seasons. Holla back. ------------------
big dog..rocketfan95 has been posting here longer then you have and knows about basketball. we have plenty of people on the board with "sources" and usually the "sources" arent' right.... ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be" [This message has been edited by Rocket Fan (edited June 15, 2000).]
There was interest during the season from the Rockets regarding Taylor, so I wouldn't be shocked if what BigDog says is true. Hypothetical Trade Scenario 458 (I tried to make this as realistic as possible, though it still seems far-fetched) #3pick + signed Taylor for Cato($2.7mill) + #9 + Drew($2.2mill) + $4.5mill trade exception Would you guys go for that? Of course, discussions and signings cannot take place until much after the draft....So, say for instance the Rockets really are hot for Darius Miles. Have the Clippers select him with the 3rd pick, and then trade him later in the summer along with the resigned Taylor. [This message has been edited by thacabbage (edited June 15, 2000).]
I feel ya kid. Don't take it personal. I may have just started posting and he may have some basketball knowledge, but don't knock me. You don't know me or who I know or what I do. True. No disrespect. Respect my opinions as just that. In all trueness, noone knows whose going where until they sign. ------------------
Yeah I would do that Cabbage. The team would look like this HAKEEM TAYLOR MILES ANDERSON FRANCIS ------------------ President of the Moochie Norris FAN CLUB
BigDog -- Well I learned the hard way not to discount things stated by newbies, especially when they're fairly well-spoken. You just registered yesterday so it's tough for information not found anywhere else to be immediately accepted -- in other words, respect on the board is kind of earned when it comes to good info... but it's certainly interesting. According to Mitch Lawrence, Taylor's value has gone way down and his agents are using a hot commodity (Tracy McGrady) to get a not-so-hot one (Taylor) a fat contract. I can't see us being players for McGrady... Taylor is a very good scorer, but the knock (and a legit one at that) is the fact that he does not put up big rebound numbers at all. The only decent stat is his rebounding has gone up each season (4.2 per game as a rookie, 5.3 next season, 6.5 last season), but then again, so has his playing time... ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Without question I would.... problem is that #3 pick won't be Swift (doesn't look likely anyhow)... so what would the Rockets do? Miles? Fizer? Have to keep in mind the team would then have Taylor, Kenny T and Rogers at PF -- where's the need then for a "franchise" PF? They would probably think Miles or a center at that point. Anyhow, all speculation ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
I've never like Maurice Taylor. He can't defend or rebound worth a lick, but you must admit...the man can score the basketball. And we know that Rudy likes Mo Taylor, but I doubt he would be willing to give Taylor the max. However, it all depends on how much the Rockets like Darius Miles. The Rockets would be using up all of their exception space in this deal, but to land the #3 pick you have to give. I think I'd do this deal. ------------------ "My sources tell me Rudy Tomjanovich is head coach of the Houston Rockets."
Has an excellent post game, a dominator on the boards and a terrific low post defender. If Brian Grant has an excellent post game, then he must have just gotten it in the last couple of weeks. Hmm...maybe he bought it off of eBay. ------------------
BigDog, no offense man. I check that site everyday. My point was that someone had already posted it this morning. Welcome to the board. ------------------ Get your proper swirve on...visit www.swirve.com (coming in mid-June, for now visit www.eesite.com)
#3pick + signed Taylor for Cato($2.7mill) + #9 + Drew($2.2mill) + $4.5mill trade exception would be great for us and I'd do it immediately, but I'm not to sure that the clips would be too interested in Cato. What do they do with him? Does he play PF. They have Kandi and Closs (or is it Kloss) on center, granted I think I'd rather have Cato than Closs. Also, since I'm not a huge fan of the clips and don't watch them (unless its a highlight film of them getting smoked) do they need Drew? If so, where would they put him, SG or PG. ------------------ He who stands for nothing will fall for anything.

big dog...welcome to the board sorry if it sounded like i was disrespecting you but every new person on this board claims to have sources. it just sounded weird when you posted something that had already been posted about grant then said my sources say the rocket covet him.. everyone knows of course he might be someone the rockets want and so many people post what they hear on espn as their "sources" anyways i look forward to reading your future posts and hopefully what you said comes true. welcome to the board and sorry if we got off to bad start ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
plus this board recently went through a whole fiasco with people posting all the inside info they know about the rockets when in the long run that info could get the site and team in trouble ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
I'll put Mo on this team if it also lands TMac . ------------------ Rockets fans wanted at hoopsboards.com Draft Chat, NBA Chat, Team Chat, and more!
Hey guys I offer an apology as well. I love the Rockets as much as you all do. I think that this is a wonderful site. I've been looking at the site for about 2 yrs and they've always been able to keep everyone abreast of the Rockets steps. I no longer live in Houston and my job involves all sports and travel. Just thought that I could pass some things I heard. As we all know, rumors are just that. Some pan out and others don't. Take Peter Vescey for instance, a couple of years ago, he had Hakeem being traded to Vancoover. Don't know where that came from except the fact that Hakeem likes the city. ------------------
