Just a couple of lines I thought were interesting.. brings back da memories of glory days: Compare your overall experience in LA versus your overall experience in Houston. Thanks, Rob! Tear the rack down! Connie Taiwan Horry: It's really different. Even though I get a lot of minutes in L.A., it's totally different from what I did in Houston. In Houston, I averaged almost 38-40 minutes a game. I was counted on to play a big role defensively and offensively. Whereas here in L.A., I'm in more of a defensive role ... every now and then I'll do a little bit more on the offensive end when something else isn't going right for us. It's kind of like, when you're counted on more, you feel a little bit better. But it really doesn't matter as long as you're winning. That's the most important thing. I'm from Alabama so for the living part, I liked Houston better because it's a little bit more familiar with what I'm used to, the area I was brought up in. L.A. is a little bit fast. There's a lot of glitz and glamour. There are a lot of things different. I prefer the lifestyle in Houston, but when it comes to seeing things out of the ordinary, L.A. is the place. Hey, Robert, since you beat Shaq's and Horace Grant's Magic in 1995, do you ever razz them about sweeping that series? Matt St. Paul, Minn. Horry: You know, it was so funny. It was like (Brian) Shaw and Shaq ... NBA.com TV and all those guys would always show the game, especially the first game where Nick (Anderson) missed the free throws and we won it in overtime. So they'd always look at me and we'd smile. Every once in a while we'll talk about it. Every now and then I'll throw a snide comment out there. Especially now with Horace so you've got three guys who were on that team. So I throw a lot of the jokes out there now. But really I don't say too much about it. ------------------
I miss Horry and Sam and Kenny..... ------------------ SUCK POLICE!!!!!! To point out individuals or teams that have managed to reach the pinnacle of SUCKINESS!!!!! ----- Who Else? The Washington SUCKskins!!!!!!!!! $100 Million down the drain!!!!!!!
i would love to have horry back... call me weird but i'd love get that boy back in a rockets uniform ------------------ "Wahooo"-homer I'm not only a fan but I'm also the bartender
OK, you're weird. Actually I agree with you. I'd take Horry back if we could trade Walt for him. Their salaries are close from what I recall and Horry's defense and ability to play the 3 and the 4 makes it worthwhile. ------------------ Five to one baby, one and five...no one here gets, out alive.
I've always been down with the Alabama Slama or as I called him Robert THE HOUSTON HORROR Horry [hhhmmm Triple H] Rocket River ------------------
YES, lets bring him back. he can rebound well for a three, so all you mo bashers can have a solution to his rebounding problem.
Horry is a walking injury bum now. Besides, Horry will NEVER be a Rocket again. ------------------ snap crackle pop
I loved Horry. He wasn't much of a regular season guy, but he transformed in the playoffs. I don't think there is anyone else quite like him in the NBA. He should be starting for the Lakers, Rick Fox Sucks. The Rocket's defense was deadly when Hakeem, Clyde, Mario and Robert were on the floor together. I sure hope that we can see some defense like that in the near future. ------------------
I dunno about Horry, but I wish we kept Cassell. He always was, and remains today, one of my favorite players in the league. Gotta love the alien! ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel boy.
There is only one word to describe Horry........STREAKY. ------------------ ------------------ Hakeem: "Exit Suugar Lan"
Horry was a nice player that benefited from our system but SAM I AM was the man ! I truly wish we could have kept him and to tell you guys the truth I have no idea why anyone else that he has been with would have given up on him as quick as they did... the man has game..... If Sammy would have been here in '97 I think we might have had a much better chance of getting through UTAH..them bastards !!!!!... they had no answer for him. ------------------ If you are a positive thinking person but yet you listen to country music, isn't that odd?
3pointer-There is a reason why Cassell has been a journeyman... He's SELFISH... While he does get his fair share of assists, it's because the only time he will dish the ball is if someone is wide open for a dunk, other than that he fires it up... And he has NO DEFENSE whatsoever... Remember those Rocket-Suns series when KJ would go for 50 a game? Cassell is responsible for that... Cassell was my favorite player when he was a Rocket, but I realized that there's a reason why the Rockets, and half the teams in the NBA have dealt him... Nonetheless, he's one of my all-time favorites... ------------------ Check out my homepage! Loads of sports pics! http://www.public.asu.edu/~sykim/
Who knew this would turn into a "show love for ET" thread? Except for kidrock but I never did like that guy's music anyway. I liked Horry when he was here, but age and injuries have sapped his quickness some. Plus he's bulked up to play the 4. He's still pretty good, but I think his most productive years are behind him. ------------------ I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve immortality by not dying. - Woody Allen
Kidrock's music SUCKS. No offense intended towards you 8 but really he does suck ! ------------------
I like the fact that he wrote long answers to the questions. So many athletes write really short answers. Go Robert! ------------------ humble, but hungry.
Kidrock8 - Cassell is selfish? Current stats: Player...Shots..Assists Sam...... 230...134 Steve.....239...102 Cat.......231... 40 Stockton..135...170 Cassell's no Stockton, but he NOT selfish. Horry's not likely to ever be a Rocket again. His contract runs until 2004, he is injury prone at this stage in his career, and the Rockets historically don't deal with the Faker$. Someone more knowledgeable correct me on the real deal killer - didn't he get Calvin Murphy's daughter pregnant and not marry her? ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited December 07, 2000).]
Ironically, both Horry and Cassell have been mentioned by their team reps in talks involving trades. Cassell was rumored to be actively involved in trade talks since the all star break last year. Then he had a terrific resurgence and he was "a no go, ever, ever" by Karl. Now he is in the dog house again since playing several lackluster games, poor ball control (Karl's biggest complaint with him) and not following the game plan. (Several others are in the doghouse with him.) Horry was one of my favorite Rocket players of all time. I have met him and spoken to him on a couple of occasions. He had one of the purest shooting forms I have ever witnessed. He has been mentioned in several deals since he got to LA. Simply put, he is one of those players that always appears to be seemingly expendable in the LA scheme of things. Jackson is not the first to feel he is redundant. But he is absolutely indespensible in the playoffs. When motivated he is a giant killer at the 3 and 4. I would not say he is streaky as much as lazy at times. (It hurts me to say that.) When motivated he is worth every dollar of his $5Million. Robert has much more talent and a greater repertoire of scoring abilities than Walt Williams, and can be an infatigable defender. IMHO anyway. ------------------
He still has knee problems right? If only Horry could post up. You'd think after all this time he'd actually have at least one move he could go to in the post. He is valuable to the Lakers. He's no answer, but he's no problem, and it seems that he does the little things in the big games...and that counts for something. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
