    Report: Horry re-signs with Spurs

    Associated Press

HOUSTON - Robert Horry, who has five championship rings, re-signed with the San Antonio Spurs, according to a broadcast report Tuesday.

Horry told Houston television station KRIV that he's signed a one-year deal with a player's option for the second year, but did not disclose the financial terms. He lives in Houston in the offseason.

Spurs spokesman Tom James told The Associated Press he could not confirm the signing. He declined to comment further.

Horry averaged 4.8 points and 3.6 rebounds last year in San Antonio. He spent six seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers before joining the Spurs.

Does anyone remember the sketch on Conan O'Brien years ago when Barkley was still with Phoenix and they were playing the Rockets in the playoffs. Andy Ricter went to a Sun's press conferance and asked Sir Charles if he would comment on the "Horry Factor" of the upcoming series. Considering that Horry was just a first or second year guy, Chuck's reply was something along the lines of, "What the Hell are you talking about."

Every single time I think of Robert Horry, I think of the "Horry Factor". Just thought I'd share that with you.

Great deal for the Spurs. 1year deal for a nice role player? Great deal for them.

Horry is a complete non-factor now. Just a roster fill-in.

I disagree. He played decent minutes for the Spurs last year. In fact his play kept Malik Rose on the bench. I would hardly call him roster fill in. Perhaps he is the 8th man, but not the 12th.

It will be interesting to see if Rose gets the minutes this year ahead of Horry as the first Big off the bench.

Another good CHEAP signing just recently was the Cavs getting Tractor Traylor for 1.6M for 1 year. Solid signing there too.

Does this signing mean that the Spurs are less likely to get Malone?

Apparently the Spurs also signed Tony Massenburg. I guess that means end of the road for Willis.

They still are interested in Malone. I think they just didnt want to wait around for his decision.

I'm surprised not many people have brought up bringing in Malik Rose. He is obviously in San Antonio's doghouse and since we are weak at PF/C position, he can come in and do some dirty work for us.

The Spurs want to move him for a player with less years on their contract. They almost moved him for Kurt Thomas last year.

Rose does have a heafty contract. I dont see us making a deal for him. We dont have anyone the Spurs would want I dont think.
