With the money we are paying Mo Taylor, who would you rather have between the two on the Rockets next year. Would you rather have Mo Taylor coming off the bench or Horry. Do you prefer a Yao, Cato, Horry three man rotation or stick with the Yao, Cato, Mo Taylor rotation?

    Mo all the way.

Horry brought some good things, but he's breaking down now.

With the money we are paying Taylor, we can sign about 3 Horrys.

Why does ppl keep on mentioning Horry? He has no offensive game for the past 2 years and his defense is questionable.

I, for one, would like RH -- for the veteran's minimum. Unless Rox can swing a legit* deal for Mo I would prefer retaining him.

(* A legit deal -- like Ainge really liking him, as much as rumored/hinted in February and taking a package including MoT for Pierce...or Sonics still being infatuated with Mo and swapping Lewis, or those two being a cornerstone with Pike heading NW and Booth this way/I'd do that even tho I expect Pike to have a bounce back '04-'05.)

It's not even close. Even at his peak (I thought he started going down hill after his second year) Horry has never been as good as Mo.

I wouldn't go THAT far. But Horry's best days are behind him. MoT's just hitting his stride.

As much as I still love Robert, i think going to the lakers where they wanted him to be a bulkier stronger PF hurt his career. His really lost all the athecism that made him such a huge factor on those rocket teams. He was just a tall SF being forced to play PF on the lakers due to their lack of size

another reason why i hate the lakers

Mo is a better scorer player than Horry is.
But i rather have Horry than Mo Tay. Horry knows how to dump the ball inside the paint. It sounds like a very simple job yet not many players can do it effectively. You need to be tall, have a respectful range, and knows where to put the ball. Horry is a better fit than Mo Tay because he has been working with great centers for most of his careers and he knows how to play well with them. Not to mention that Horry gets much lesser $.
If you need a someone to score right away, Mo Tay is way to go. But Rox already got bunch of people who can score at a given posession.. so I go with Horry anyday. We can pick up a backup SG or PG with the left over money too : )

Agree. Last year, because of the "give Yao the damn ball" hysteria, I paid a lot of attention on how the Lakers got Shaq the ball. Horry was clearly their best entry passer (Fox is a close second). Entry passing is not as simple as just dump it in. Especially in this era of zone, timing is very important. You have to make the pass right when the big man makes the move. Too soon or too late often results in turnover or at least ends up with the the post player getting the ball where he is not effective.

Back to topic, Mo is obviously better in post up scoring. His jumper is more reliable than Horry's. But Horry is a much better rebounder. And Horry can still hit the 3. Horry's defense has slipped due to age, but anybody's defense is probably better than Mo's.

Does Taylor do ANYTHING better than Horry besides score in the paint? I believe Horry has him in every other area.

Does coming to pre-season in shape count? How about if they had to start at PF and needed to play 35-40 mpg? Horry has 1 season in his entire career where he has averaged 35+ mpg...95-96.

Let's get real here. If the Spurs are going to let him go, why in hell do we need their table scraps? Whatever he was has long since passed.

    Definetly Mo.

Mo is so much better than Horry in the present day. Horry is getting old, and his game is definetly on a decline.

Plus, I would miss saying MO MONEY on PBP.

I can recall seeing more made jumpshots by Mo than by Horry this past season.

Mo is automatic with that jumpshot of his. he is instant offense.

Maurice Taylor finally came in camp shape last season. I don't remember Horry ever having a problem with that. As far as starting at PF, I would rather have Horry in his prime than Mo, because Horry can play defense. Mo also has only one year playing 35+ mpg.

By the way, I am comparing their careers. Horry is way too old now and I would rather have Mo.

Just for the record, MoT's "in shape" is basically the shape Robert Horry's been throughout his career.

Being in shape is not a plus, it's a mandatory requirement.

I'd rather have Horry for the minimum than MoT for 9M. However, at the same price, MoT's a no-brainer. I think that pretty much speaks for everyone.

GATER, I agree that Horry is not going to give you a lot of PT. But I disagree that he is "their table scraps." Horry played 16 mpg in the regular season, more in the playoffs. That's not bad, considering he is playing the same position of their best player. Again, the fact that he took up Malik Rose's PT says a lot. Rose has been a very solid role player for them.

I think the reason they release him is not because they think he can't help them. It's just he's not worth the money they are paying him. But if Horry could be signed for the minimum, I think it'd be a good deal.

I would trade MoT for table scraps, belly button lint or a little red wagon. I would even throw in draft picks - if we could just get rid of his salary.
