What Marv ALbert said is true, but Horry still has until July 1st to tell the Lakers either way, and he has not done so. He said he could still change his mind. Check out the LA Times form yesterday.

    Horry Now Expects to Return

    By TIM BROWN

Robert Horry, the versatile forward whose defensive effort in previous playoff rounds enabled the Lakers to contain the Western Conference's best power forwards, will stay with the Lakers after this season, he said after Tuesday's practice.
He decided not to opt out of his contract after several conversations with his wife, Keva, who spends most of the year at home in Houston with the couple's two children. Their oldest, 7-year-old Ashlyn, is mentally challenged. Horry had considered trying free agency and possibly signing with the Houston Rockets, or another team nearer Houston.
"We sat down, we talked about it," Horry said. "We've had so much time off, we've had plenty of time to talk about it. She said, 'I would love for you to come back to Houston, but they're not going to be as good as you all are. So, stay in L.A., do what you have to do.' "
Horry, who will be 31 in August, said he has not notified Laker management. He has until July 1.
"You know me, I could change my mind at the last minute," he said, laughing. "Right now, we talked about it, she told me to stay in L.A. because you can win. And that playoff check comes in handy."
Horry is guaranteed $5.3 million next season and $5.3 million the season after. The club has the option on the 2003-04 season.

    but they didn't play Utah??

Does this mean we can start dissing Carla as a has-been, without feeling like homey's.

they're referring to the sacto, san anto and portland series.

horry basically negated duncan and rasheed. his defense was spectacular - so good in fact that the lakers did not even double down on tim or sheed.

and his offense drew the other power forwards outside - thus opening the lanes.

This is not the same Robert Horry who left town so we could get Sir Talks Alot. Horry's back prevents him from playing the SF spot, and we don't need him at PF.

I would submit that Horry's "dominance" of Webber, Duncan, and Wallace was not the key to the Lakers winning those series. Duncan was just fine, it was the rest of the Spurs that forgot to show up. I think the Lakers' success, though, had a little more to do with Shaq and Kobe.

well..he still has time to think about it. and really one of the reasons his wife gives is because hes in LA winning titles, but since theyve lost the first game, maybe winning the title this year wont be a sure thing. so whats the big deal. he goes from one nontitleholder to another. i really think if the lakers lose the finals it could affect his decision in the opposite direction.

i'm not so crazy about horry comming back. the SF talent in this years draft doesn't help horry's case either.

    Behad,

I read it as Horry paraphrasing his wife. you know, as in they come in handy to her.

I'm sure she has nooooo problem going through his $5m. Ooops, that's a crass stereotype that calls for 4 smilies.
