Oh man. That is terrible. I was watching the race earlier, but didn't see the crash.

The crash happened on lap 12. How much of it did you watch?

Idiotic how fast those cars were going on that track -- they (race organizers) were just asking for a deadly crash. Rumor was they were hitting 230+ in the time trials -- way too fast for that track.

I like watching the beginning of the races and introductions. Was watching via online stream, but the connection wasn't too good. But then I had to step out like after 6-7 laps. I was planning on catching the end of it. :(

IndyCar as a whole just seems crazy to me. They go faster than NASCAR but have less protection. It just seems to me like a wreck in those cars has a higher probability of serious injury.

My father used to race before I was born. Stock cars, sprints, and midgets. My mother was always afraid of something like this happening.

Very sad. I'm surprised that this type of thing doesn't happen more often the sport just seems super dangerous though I admit I don't watch racing

Such a tragedy... I followed IndyCar for years and went to several races mostly in Vancouver. I haven't followed it for a few years though my brother and Dad both still do and were really excited about today's race, as it was the final race of the season with a very tight points race up top. What a terrible tragedy. It really puts "sport" into perspective.

In the OP's video, it uses Dan Weldon's vehicles camera for a bit - from the 10 second mark to the 25 second mark. It's hard to tell which vehicle is which when the chaos takes place, but I believe Dan's car is one of two cars going airborn around the 26 or 27 second mark.

Here's a multi-camera replay of the crash where you can see exactly how things went wrong:

Such a devastating day for racing. But, at the same time, Will Power is very lucky to have survived. It looked like his car was 20+ feet in the air at one point...
