I might have to rethink my idea that the Hornets are CP3 and a bunch of scrubs. Rookie Darren Collison of UCLA has fit in quite well with them, and Stojakovic has stepped up. I thought he was washed up. Another rookie Marcus Thornton of LSU has come up huge for them as well. Looks like they had a very solid draft given their selections. Is the super high usage of Paul the reason why his supporting cast looked so bad? Or maybe the firing of Byron Scott woke them up? Or the new coach is doing a better job?
Oh, and it's not like they're beating scrub teams. Their last two wins were against Phoenix and Atlanta, two teams we just lost to. They play @ Miami tonight.
This might be the start of the decline in NBA Superstar salaries, as teams adopt the new model for success: dump your Superstar and play team ball.
I'm surprised nobody has said "they're better without Chris Paul" yet, like everybody is saying "we're better without McGrady and Yao".
I'm reading Bill Simmon's Book of Basketball, and his take on Oscar Robertson somehow reminds me of Chris Paul. Might his perfectionist, demanding personality be wearing on his teammates? Are they afraid of letting him down?
I made a thread about this with a lot more insight before the season started. I'll have DaDakota rep whoever bumps it. IBTL.
Hmm i think you have to take into account that the Suns played the rockets 2 nights before and the Hawks played us the night before... having to play fast paced against us then playing Hornets back to back.. Have to say we had to have softened those teams up a little bit for them...
Thornton is a scoring machine. He is 8th in the NBA in Points Per Minute. He already has 18 tonight in the first half. I told many people that his scoring ability would convert to the NBA, and he was a better prospect than Jodie Meeks. Very few people agreed with me at the time.
Awesome. And for the guys trying to compare Yao and McGrady to CP3, get real. Neither guy is on Chris Paul's level and only McGrady *might* have been and that was years ago.
