I don't see any "big" articles about him either. However, I did see him signing today on the ESPN bottomline and there is also a small paragraph about the signing on the Lakers ESPN homepage.

Got this from the lakers section at espn.

    Welcome back, Horace

Horace Grant is returning to Los Angeles. A starting forward on the Lakers' NBA championship team of 2001, Grant signed a free agent contract with the team July 28. Terms were not announced. Grant, who turned 38 earlier this month, hasn't played since being released by the Magic last Dec. 11. The 16-year veteran has played in 1,110 games and appeared in 77 games with the Lakers in 2000-01, averaging 8.5 points and 7.1 rebounds. He has career averages of 11.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 assistshttp://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=lal

A move which screams "triangle knowledge". Jackson didn't want Samaki or Medvedenko messing up the offense when Shaq was out. That's why he used untalented Madsen as a backup C. With the signing of Grant, you can tell LA is dead serious about winning a title next year. They're not so much focused on building for the future as they are getting all their ducks in a row to win titles while Shaq's still in the league. Grant was Payton's teammate as well as Shaq's (on two teams). They are comfortable playing with him and Malone will pick up more nuiances of the traingle from Grant (a true PF) than he claimed to have observed from Horry.

I could actually see this team playing together for many many more years. They are now adding front court depth and their only weak position may be back up center but with the guy they drafted (his name escapes me but he had great size) this could actually turn out to be a strength. They are truly loaded.

Shaq is going to have to patrol that Lake locker room! Winning will take care of...everything?

The Lakers might have the oldest front court in the league:

    Malone 40
    Grant 38
    Fox 34
    Murray 32
    ONeal 31
    Walker 27
    Medved 24

Average 32. Only 2 guys are under 30.

Plus, they have a couple of old dogs in the back court: Shaw 37 and Payton 35

LOL. They should get both Rodman and Willis. That way, they'd have a monopoly on 40-something PFs.

You left out Cook and Walton. Both are young (22 and 23 respectively) and promising.

the rooks probably wont contribute anyway. Now that the lakers lost horry, walker and madsen how will they make up at the pf? grant has been limited in the number of minutes he can play effectively and malone's minutes too have gone down. It may come back to bite them but then again i am sure they're more worried about kobe's status right now

Horry is old too. They chose not to bring any of those 3 back.

I remember when the rockets got old and all the younger teams were flat out out running us and had more energy towards the end of the games and we couldnt builed up a big enough lead that other teams couldnt catch up to. maybe the lakers are about to suffer the same fate. i believe that this year may be there last year to possibly win a championship for a very long time.

For God's sake... Grant was cut by the Magic, who's only other post presence was Shawn Kemp. He'll probably just be a cheerleader/lockerroom presence, even though Phil likes to play his whole bench.

I think he was only well enough to have played in something like 4 games last year. As if the three time world champions need more "veteran" presence. This move seems kind of silly, he's not even useful as a practice dummy.
