When I was 17 I used to think it was really cool to go into a Hooter's restuarant, get some wings, and look at hotties with biggins. As my age has increased (26) I have noticed that in that time period the Hooter's uniform has remained unchanged, the the food is piss poor, and the waitresses are getting fugly!! If you have never made it into this eating establishment, then let me give you a brief rundown: Attire: They wear tight little Hooter T-shirts Bright burnt orange (what an ugly color! ) 1983 nylon shorts WITH (and here is the kicker) thick wonder woman-esque pantyhose!! What?!?!? When the hell are they going to let these girls show some leg for chrissake???? Then they wear those 1985 white Reebok, high top, velcro, jane fonda aerobics sneakers. I know retro is back, but these arent exactly hip in 2002. Food: Grease, grease, and more grease. Sure they have some good wings (BW3 is better), but you will need a triple bypass when you walk out of there. Dont get a salad unless you want wilted lettuce in a brown bowl with runny dressing. The burgers andchicken sandwiches are ok, but once again prepare for a grease fest!! Girls: 10 years ago, this place was serviced by gorgeous girls with bountiful bosoms (thus the name Hooter's). These days you can be flat as a 2x4 and work in this establishment (not that there's anything wrong with that either). Or you can be a fugly fatty fatty (not that there's anything wrong with that) and grace the tables of men wanting 3 things: boobs, beer, and food. 3 essential things of being a man. The lack of good-looking well endowed waitresses used to comphensate for the horrible food and be a strong selling point for the Hooter's franchise. Now they have both crappy food and girls, so the reasons for spending money at Hooter's are rapidly decreasing.
Service is poor, food is less than fair. The chicks here at Houston Hooters aren't really that attractive either. Yeah Hooters does SUCK! I think its seen its better days, it will go under in the next 5-10 years for sure.
So let me get this straight ... you're 26 and you still eat at Hooters so you can ogle the waitresses' breasts? And you feel justified in complaining about the lack of attractive women available to serve you? Interesting.
Yeah so what? Obviosuly Hooter's was created for men who like to eat crappy food, drink beer and ogle at good looking, well endowed women...... big deal. Fact is: the good looking well endowed women part is rapidly deteriorating, hence the reason for this thread. Men ogle at breasts all day long, unless they are gay (not that there's anything wrong with that). Some are better than others at concealing the way they go about doing it.
I don't drink much beer. My wife and kids don't drink much of it either. I know you were just kidding, but young people on this board may get the wrong idea about what the essentials of being a man really are. Never been to Hooter's. Don't go to strip clubs either. I do think women are beautiful, though.
God knows that boobs, beer and food are essentials in my life! Please, PLEASE don't define the lives of men in that way. It's like defining the lives of women as needing makeup, wine and shoes. Do I like beautiful women? Yes Do I like beer? Nope. Hate it in fact. Do I like food? Yes, but I don't eat meat. Am I gay? No (not that there's anything wrong with that ) Life is complex and loaded with nuance. Some men like big breasts. Some men like flat-chested women. Some men like...well...MEN! Stereotyping men in this way is as bad as saying all women are ditsy bimbos. It makes us all look bad.

The story as I heard it: Hooter's originally had lots of hot waitresses wearing skimpy clothing. The girls with the best stuff and best outfits got the best tips. This led to competition and many happy men. In addition, the restaraunts didn't really have to choose only to hire busty waitresses - busty waitresses gravitated to Hooter's because they could make the most money there. It sounds like a nice situation. Women who chose to do so could flaunt their assets and make very good money without having to work at a strip club. However, some jealous waitresses at Hooter's sued Hooter's because they said that Hooter's had set up this system where they were discriminated against because they didn't have the goods. As usual when lawyers entered the situation, they screwed it up for everybody. Now the uniforms are standardized, the average waitress is 5'1, weighs 100 lbs, and I'm sure they make no better tips than the waitresses at Houstons. Naturally, because they don't make any better money, the quality of waitresses at Hooter's has dropped drastically. The food has always been marginal, so I agree with the poster who predicts that they will go out of business. It's just a matter of time - any Hooter's restaraunt that is not well-managed or positioned is going to have a rough time of it. You know, it just kills me when women remove opportunities from other women. You'd think that feminists would approve of women taking excess amounts of money from men. I saw an interesting site the other day that promotes women's rights without being too political or anti-male.They call themselves ifeminists You can even take the test to see if you are an ifeminist. (The test is gender-neutral)
I don't think you're going to find too many women who view being a Hooter's waitress as a fantastic career opportunity. The sad fact is, it is probably one of the better paying jobs a girl can get while she's putting herself through college -- provided she has the assets to get good tips. And why are the girls going to college? So they can get decent jobs in respectable fields so they'll never again have to serve beer to another drunk guy who can't stop staring at their breasts. Believe it or not, most women don't find that appealing. As far as women who say they want to work in Hooter's and strip clubs, that's certainly their choice -- I would never stand in the way of their decision. But the crux of the problem is that these venues are some of the few in which women without formal education can make decent money. That's where feminism comes in. It's not about taking money from men, it's about offering parity of career options for men and women. The iFeminists seem to be a front for Libertarians who want all women to be armed and ready for any potential attackers. I'd rather address the issue of why our society is so conducive to attacks against women in the first place. Carrying a gun is only going to add to the hostilities.
No, but I see that you agree with me - the important thing is that they have a choice. Of course it's not a career choice. It's something they can do to get money. I think the iFeminists are right about women being prepared to defend themselves. I would like to see a society where none of us have to be afraid of being attacked, but I think that we should be prepared to defend ourselves. The police are rarely going to be able to save you from a bad situation. This gives us few alternatives: you can prepare yourself and be ready, avoid all possible bad situations, or combine the two. I'm not a violent person and haven't taken the steps to be prepared, so I avoid most potentially dangerous situations and try to keep my wife out of them as well. As I'm not familiar with Libertarians, I don't know if iFeminists is a front for them. However, they have some valid points, particularly where they want to give men the chance to support women's rights.
I have to take somewhat of an offense with this statement... Not to start a war of the sexes, but... I totally understand that women don't want to be ogled, or better put, stared at in public... That's a given... BUT... I know SO many women, probably a majority, that dress skimpily (is that a word?) when going out in public, THEN continue to state that they hate being gawked at!!!! When I say, "well cover yourself up and you may not get as many stares," they always say "I have the right to wear whatever I want to..." Of course they have the right to wear what they want, but if it results in uncomfortable stares, why the hell do they do it? This is one of my biggest pet peeves!
They have a right to wear whatever they want and we have a right to ogle the breasts that they flaunt with revealing clothing.
amen brutha! i live right around the corner from Bonedaddy's... and even though i'm a vegetarian, i LOVE that place! first time we went there for lunch from work... 7 guys and 1 girl... poor girl didn't have a good time, as she watched every guy's eyes just wander across the entire restaurant, rather than stay at the table in the midst of the present conversation...
Drewdog must have been one of those supporters to allow men to work at hooters as waitresses. Hooters is fun when I go never had a dull moment there. Drewdog try talking with the ladies and not eyeballing them you will find they are very attractive in their own ways.
