How can you not like Martin. Dude is smooth, scores with ease and doesn't have to dominate the ball. Shane gives his all on defense and hits timely 3's. I guarantee we will miss them both if they are traded. I'd trade Shane to a contender but I'd build around Martin.
I agree with trading Shane to a contender. I really would like to see him get a ring, he's reaching the twilight of his career and I don't want to see him miss his chance. I feel the same for Steve Nash as well.
But they all play different positions... I love KM and hope he sticks around, but for some reason I still don't see him as a Rocket. Had the same feeling with Ariza and Artest. I dunno, just a gut feeling.
Shut the **** up... If you've read any of my post, I'm a big advocator for trading AB... The reason I don't like Martin is simple, his "fools gold", not to mention he plays like p*ssy. He has great stats, without having a great impact on the game. 'If' we were to ever make the playoffs with Martin at the helm, we would be obliterated, and stuck further into mediocrity. I see no point in having this overrated one-dimensional player... when this team clearly needs to rebuilt ...
WHOA MAN Chilll for a bit... No need to get your panties all tighten up over a message board.. Sheesh... We all have opinions on this board and not to take anything so personal... Be careful on how you respond to comments because the moderators like to keep this place civilized. So pass the Grey Poupon and lets have a healthy discussion
Good to see they've kept a professional attitude. Whatever happens; bidness is bidness* (but I won't lie, I love both players ..no homo)
I don't mind trading Martin or Battier in the right deal and circumstance. I LOVE to watch Martin play in the offense but like I said last night in the game thread, when his shot is off then it gets ugly really quick for him. Clutch replied back that it rarely happens and he's spot on but it also requires that he almost never be off and all players go through rough stretches so it will happen. He is so one dimensional that it does tend to get on my nerves unless he scoring in bunches. Battier is interesting, I would move him to a contender if it meant we are getting something of value in return BUT if we decide to rebuild, I'd want the old guy back. Say what you will about Shane but he is a GREAT teacher and has extremely high BBIQ. IF we are going to blow it up then he can do wonders being the on the court leader, like a second coach for the youth on the team.
I missread the title & thought it was about rumors of Shane & Martin being traded. However on the real topic, I really like them both as they're professinals & give 100% each game. I could see either or both of them being traded if they would bring in upgrades to the team, however i wouldn't be happy about it. I'd love to see Shane in a position to get a ring, whether here Or with someone else.
Agreed with everything with this post. Martin is WACK. I dont give a crap how many points he scores or how efficiently he scores those points, we still lose games with his "high efficiency". Martin would be great if he was playing off of Yao, but where is Yao right now.... He plays with no fight, heart, and in the playoffs he will be ineffective because he relies on the ref's way too much. And to add on that his defense is piss poor. He gives up as many points as he scores. And come 4rth quarter time he is nowhere to be found. We are paying him 15 mil to play the first 3 quarters. That's not efficient spending in my book. Battier, on the other hand, is the heart, soul, and leader of the team. I dont think he should be traded. But honestly, this is the first Rockets team that I have disliked over the past 10 years. Trade anyone for players who actually fight hard every night and plays defense.
Guys like you amaze me. Yeah, who needs 23 points a game. We win most games by more than that so we could easily just toss out those 23 points. No impact on a game.
Martin actually played tough defense last night. Yeah, his shot was off, but if he'd been needed in the 4th, he's come back in in that situation and done well.
Didn't Foye have his season high? There was a reason Adelman didn't put him back in, late, when it was still a 7 point game. Love the offense, HATE the defense.
I don't think some of you guys truly realize just how horrible it would be if the Rockets traded Kevin Martin to go into full-blown rebuilding mode. Sure, you say you would be just fine with it now... but then all of a sudden the guy that actually keeps this team in the game most of the time would be gone, and those one quarter dry spells the Rockets go through would turn into 2-3 quarter dry spells. It would be rough to watch.
