I think RA underestimates, the potential, a group trip can have on chemistry. As far as can a team be too deep? Perhaps. But I don't think this team needs to worry about that. Very solid roster...but let's not get carried away.
Nope. Depth is depth. Refs blow their calls and we lose games? Its not because we didnt have depth. its because refs blew the game, injuries, coaching decisions, or bad use of depth. Never has it been a bad thing ever in the history of the NBA before. Now is not the time it will start to be either. When you have more than other people? That means you have more fresh talent at the end of the game and the season also.
Very clear that Granger is saying he wants to be traded to Houston for Patterson, Hill and Jeffries. Get'er done Morey!
It can create chemistry problems though...if people aren't getting the PT they want, or are upset because thier backup is paid more then them...
The bolded area is completely false. Before Kyle Lowry was injured, the 2nd team was always bringing the team back from a 10 + point deficits. The depth last season allowed the 2nd team to beat everyone's 2nd team into submission.
I have been sitting on making a thread about that very thing....gonna wait to see how the roster cuts shake out first though I think. DD
Not if everyone is on the same page to win a ring... We no longer have selfish players, we have players that will sacrifice stats and playing time for the betterment of the team to reach the ultimate goal.
Today, but what happens if minutes start to dry up in a contract year for players like say: Yao Battier Jeffries Brooks Do you think the good ship harmony will continue sailing along? What happens if Courtney Lee starts to eat into Kyle's backup PG minutes, or Brooks starts to shoot too much to keep his numbers up for his new deal? There are lots of issues to consider here, and chemistry is a fickle thing.... Lots can happen, and winning helps keep the ship on course, but cracks can cause problems. DD
You have a good point... Lots can happen, but lets hope if there are cracks, they're due to injuries not chemistry.
I'd rather have issues due to unhappy players then injuries. You can count on professionalism to get the players to somewhat forget thier complaints and play ball. As well, you can't trade an injured player, but you can trade an unhappy one....especially if thier complaint is legit. Guys like Wafer really didn't have much to stand on. However, the fact that Kyle wants to be a starter, and Brooks wants an extension aren't going to effect their value. I can't see Bud ever complaining about his role. If Battier hits a hot streak and gains more minutes, I see Bud responding by putting extra effort into his defense. For guys like Scola, Hayes, Battier, and Miller, their value is established. PT really wouldn't effect it. Hill, PP, and Taylor haven't earned the right to complain about PT.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmonsnfl2010/101015 This is what Bill Simmons is saying in this article. We have too many players who want more minutes than there are to hand around. Dork Elvis disagrees. dmorey Daryl Morey @sportsguy33 http://es.pn/9qj4Fe What is your alternative, that we avoid good players? Also,we don't need a trade,we are going to surprise NBA
Yeah, but this is more about Adelman's task and whether he can truly keep 11 or so NBA quality rotational players happy? And, will the team be better off going to a smaller rotation? DD
It would be stupid of Morey to say anything but that. It'd be like inviting other GMS to lowball us on trades. Not to mention how it would effect player psyches.
I think most teams are able to play 8 to 9 players in a consistent rotation, and when you get more than that, folks start to complain. The Rockets would almost be better off trading some of their players in a 2 or 3 for one scenario. But I don't know which players right now.....thus the holding off on the thread...lol.....maybe it is time to take that discussion on... DD
Knowing our luck, Yao, Battier, Scola, and Martin will probably be injured at some point during the season. Our 2nd unit is just as important as our starters (and will probably be better than them on some nights.) I excluded Brooks since he's an iron man.
