A missing police pistol is connected to a series of recent heists and murders. Its owner Wong (Lee Kwok Lun) vanished earlier while pursuing a suspect in the mountains. His partner Chi Wai (Lam Ka Tung) miraculously returned unharmed. Hotshot cop Ho (Andy On) is in charge of the murder investigation. He knows the only chance he has in cracking the case is to ask for he*lp from his mentor Bun (Lau Ching Wan). Bun is recognized as a gifted criminal profiler until he went mad several years ago. Bun lives in seclusion with his beloved wife May (Kelly Lin) ever since he sliced off his ear at his superior's farewell do.

Didn't Andy Lau play some cheesy Chinese films in the 90's? I remember seeing a lot of his films in elementary.

The Warlords looks pretty awesome! Is the main character Andy or Jet Li?

Believe me "Mad Detective" is one of those movies where you have to view it twice to understand the plot developments...

Man, that looks disappointing. I was hopping for a real fist to fist fight type of movie out of those two guys.

Is the movie that good? I actually have it but have been so disappointed by the last few "anticipated" HK movies that I didn't watch this one.

Something to do for the long weekend.

Yeah, I have this movie too but I haven't watched it yet.

I've been too busy watching old VHS copies of the Care Bears, and also some p*rn.

I loved it.... If you're into investigation type movies, then this will fit the bill... I thought it was absolute genius... Come back on this board and tell me what you think about it....

    All new HK movie/series sucks.......

It use to be great back in the 80's & 90's (including the softcore p*rn :p), but all the new movies is boring/lame. I enjoyed Infernal Affair 1 & 2 tho (3rd one was gay)

Election 1&2 was just awful....and Louis Koo (古天樂) suck at acting.

Well, its just that all new movies/drama from the last few years see to focus on the "pretty boy/girl", but with crappy acting & plot.

for example: Jay Chou (he suck at acting, should just go abck to focusing on singing)

Yeah i agree they should stick to singing... There are a few Asian movies that do suck but not all of them... Especially Mad Detective... Japanese movie are just utterly bizarre and insane...
