Why don't we just split up?

    We clearly want different things.

If Canada was willing to take the North, there could be a contiguous nutjob liberal nation with universal health care and gay couples frolicking in the streets. And then the South and the Utah-area states could have a wacko conservative government, ban abortion, hide handguns in their socks or whatever. States could have a referendum on which nation they want to join.

Amicable breakup, you know? Artistic differences.

Open borders, free trade, military allies. Neither region is going to suffer greatly economically.

    What's the problem?

The states themselves are often divided as well. PLus things change, things fall apart. Besides, it'd only be a matter of days before we invaded you guys and enslaved the whorish masses to our domain...ummm carry on.

It's not quite like the pre-Civil War days when Lincoln wasn't even on the ballot in the South.

Very few states voted more than 60 percent for one of the recent candidates.

I'd have to say the South would win in a war though. I think most of the military bases are down there.

It would be the same result if cali again sides with the north for the same reason the south lost the first again. POPULATION

I don't know about that. I think North and South Dakota have more nukes than France.

Maybe instead of South, I should say RED. I guess that means old CSA plus a lot more.

I think the Red states would win. Populations are roughly equal. But the expansive size of red areas would make occupation almost impossible. A blue invasion would entail untenable supply lines even with sizable garrisons left behind.

Also - much of the blue population would be centered around a relatively small number of heavily-populated metropolitan areas. Knocking out a few of these could be devastating.

I also think that a majority of the nation's military personnel would go for red.

I'm thinking about this too much.

The point is it's NOT a war. The point is that both sides would be happier not having to concede much of the government to the other side.

If you're a red state, why would you want to invade Massachusetts and deal with all the liberal **** they'd give you when you can have your own Utopian state and not have to worry about them protesting your laws?

We don't want your northern states! If you're going to break up, then split in two, but leave my country out of it! haha..

I'd consider it when a liberal is president and democrats control both houses and the judiciary.

Who's talking about joining Canada? I'm thinking annexation. Doesn't California already have more people than Canada?

I say if there's going to be a red blue divide in the US the blue states should just take over Canada.;)
