Rashard Lewis is averaging 37.5 points per game good for #1 in the NBA. True he has only played 2 games so far but he killed the ROX in the pre-season this year. I think he has brought his shoting touch this year, but you think he can keep it up and remain in the top 5 position in points per game ??

Since Ray Allen is out injured, Lewis is the man in Seattle right now. I don't know about top 5 at the end of the year. It'll be difficult given MacGrady, Kobe, Iverson, Pierce, Shaq and Vince stay healthy, but he should average over 20 points per game this year.

Letting him go possibly 3 times.

Drafted damn Bryce Drew and Mirsad Turkcan when everybody expected them to take the hometown hero...(but Seattle did draft Vladamir Stepania ahead of him too)

Were alledgedy offered Lewis for Griffin.

Could have possibly signed him for cheaper than anyone else when he was a FA, he wanted to come to Houston.

As an aside, I once had to guard this guy in high school. Sure he had me by about 8 inches, but dismissing that, he was the most INSANE player I have ever had the honor of playing with.

The only thing that makes me feel better is knowing Rudy T. got fired. I hope he remembers the way he went out. Mr. Rocket got treated like crap. He deserved every minute of how it went down.

He is a budding star....too bad we kept a guy more interested in WEED and shooting at girls.

Lewis would have fit in great with Yao.

    Great move CD & Rudy...great !!!

As far as i recall Dallas was much more of a first choice. Houston was a distant second. This was the year that mobley got his contract re upped right?

Yup, they both came out in the second round of the same draft.

But he was pretty vocal about wanting to play with the Rockets, even though they had shafted him thrice on draft night.

I thought the claims that the Rockets promised a drafting of Lewis was all stuff Lewis said, rather than open statements made by the team? That was how I understood it, and I always refrained from making judgement because I can see how easily it might be for a young, inexperienced player to miscontrue something coaches might say about the chances of them drafting him that season. Did Rudy/CD/Les or anyone actually openly come out and claim they would draft Lewis with one of those 3 picks?

Rocket lied to Rashad, so what? I thought that's the norm in the NBA, after all it is business. Rashad should've known this and take everything with a grain of salt. I remember watching a mtv true life episode about of the all American highschool player that came out of highschool, thinking he was getting drafted (because his impression was that teams told him they were) and end not getting drafted.

Still, I'm pretty mad that we drafted Mirsad and Bryce over him, (can't really fault dickerson since we did get Steve out of him), dumb dumb mistake. As far as Eddie for Rashad, it was a tough call but I would say atleast half of the posters on this board did not want to trade for him since we didn't want to give Rashad the Max and give up Eddie.

I'm still pissed that the Rockets passed up on Mario Elie five times in the 1985 draft

Let me have the b@lls enough to admit that I was one of those half that did not want the Rockets to move Griffin for Lewis. I'm putting myself in timeout right now - for four minutes or until I can get my act together.
