Never had to file a claim, but I use Germania based out of Brenham.

I've heard nothing but good things, and they were by far the most affordable.

I use GEICO. They were cheaper than just about anybody... they go through Travelers Insurance, though. *shrug*

I've been using Amica. I had to deal with them recently about some water damage to my house. They were pretty cool about everything and two checks were written promptly. I also have our car insurance through them.

You can typically get a discounted rate if you use the same company for your homeowners insurance as you do for your auto insurance.

That's what I did. I went through AllState and got a sweet deal.

I have a friend (in NC) who says that Nationwide is kicking ass right now-- may or may not be true in Texas.

First off thanks for all of the advice. Well I received some quote from the various insurance companies that were recommended. I've had quotes at around $2000-$2200 per year and a couple of quotes around $1350 (Farmers and All State). Basically they all have the same coverage but I dont understand why there is such a big price difference in coverage. I know you get what you pay for but Farmers and All State are pretty reputiable companies.
