Who do you guys have your home owner's insurance through? We're closing on our house in a few weeks, so i'm shopping for some. Is it best to just get it through who I have my car insurance with?
Oftentimes you get a discount if you have multiple policies with one company. I have found that homeowners rates tend to be pretty close in premium costs among major carriers.
If you're happy with your current homeowner's insurance (and you have one already), don't change it. See if life insurance rates are also low and add them for a lower rate. We have had insurance for auto and home at the SwoLy household through the same company since 2002, and their customer service and claims response was superb during Hurricane Ike times. I have received several discounts over the years. One of them was my college degree. Farmers Insurance - HELP POINT
I got home and auto through State Farm. My rates are very low. You will get a discount from just about every carrier if you combine.
There is at least one member of this board who does homeowner's insurance. I signed up with him within the last year, and I have a good rate, and good service. I will send him a message to see if he can get on here and help you out.
Nationwide has treated us very well and Ive been told by roofing companies, contract companies that they are good.
The do have very good policies, but their auto is way too expensive. My wife is a former agent. She checked twice a year to see if it would be worth it to move from State Farm and it was never even close.
I actually am a nationwide agent myself. If its in an area Nationwide will write buisness in they are very good. Especially with our home/auto discounts. Shoot me an email and I willwork up a couple rates for you. Stephen dingers1@nationwide.com
Awwww... hit a nerve. Sorry about that, sir. But, hey, would you sign up with someone who doesn't proofread? C'mon, sir, I can see that typing FAST or fat-fingering some things can be overlooked, but... at least capitalize your own company name...!
