Ok gonna try and explain this: New place for my parents and it is a highrise. With most new houses I would assume people want internet in multiple locations hardwired or wireless. They "wanted" 3 rooms to have hardwire and wireless, I am pretty computer knowledgable so thought wouldnt be a problem. Well the contractor or whoever installed the telephone system and had some computer ports also, but didnt I guess network them together? So i have roadrunner coming in at one place and want it to go to 2 other rooms hardwired through the walls.....whats easiest way to do this if the "wired rooms" are just connected to each other and not one place? dunno if that made sense or not, but suggestions are helpful, was thinking from cable modem to USB port in the main room...from computer to the wall and in other rooms a hub????

The easiest solution is to simply get a wireless router and only hard wire one pc --- the rest just need wireless cards (not real expensive). The benefit then is that you can move them where ever you want

ya I know, and I have that but the signal strength doesnt reach far enough, place is too big and walls I guess with the metal insides make it hard to go through....could try a signal booster but still dont think it will reach the 2 rooms

If those ports in the walls are wired to anything, then they have to go to a distribution point somewhere. Are you sure you've looked everywhere?

Ya I know they should go somewhere, you would think they would be at one distribution point, but from what I know they just go to each other and thats what the contractor even said?? trying to figure out now if there are 3 or just 2....3 would mean there is a wire somewhere.. so hopefully there are 3

Doubt the walls are sheet metal. :) How big is your place? Our prior wireless didn't have much punch, but the new Belkin MIMO belts out a great signal. Previously had -0- signal at other end of house upstairs, now reception is 'good'.

Sound like they're daisychained. Not too handy for a network.
