In Manassas, VA...about 2 miles from my workplace. I have filled up at the Sunoco station where the the man was shot...I drive right by it at least twice a day on my way to and from work. I hope it wasn't someone I knew...a lot of my co-workers live in that area.

I'm a little surprised that the TV news networks are too busy covering "Pleasingly Plump" and whatever Greta Van Susteren's yammering about to break in and report this particular bit of news.

To me, personally, this is the most important thing going on in the world right this very moment.

I think there should be a non stop america's most wanted type coverage on this muther until he is caught. If that was in texas I would be rounding up a posse right now. I don't want to hear about another one.

Thanks for the link. I can't find anything about it on TV. Is this the first night time shooting? He might be feeling the heat.

Everybody needs gas. It's just sick. It won't be long before he moves into the district with this stuff.

And I've still got to jog home tonight.

Maybe, they decide not to give this story too much airtime, because that's precisely what this guy wants. More coverage may mean more shooting for his ego.

Take care DCkid. I've been living in Silverspring, and North Va, I can't believe this sort of thing in that community.

A Virginia Police woman has reported a witness seeing the white van and TWO people in it fleeing the scene.

It's hard to believe that two people are doing this.

About 1,000 people die in traffic accidents each year in Virginia. Why is that less of a threat? I drive by crosses on the road all the time where people died, including one for a driver that was shot.

No offense intended; I just hope we can keep perspective on things.

I know what you're getting at, but I think people are more outraged at this situation because it's someone actually intending for people to die, as opposed to an "accident".

Are you trying to say I shouldn't be scared there is a madman still on the loose going around randomly shooting people in the area in which myself and many people I am close to live? Gee, thanks for bringing me back down to earth.

I am also outraged, but we're discussing the fear factor (oh...d*mn show).

No one seems to be quaking in fear from the much more likely threat of dying in a traffic accident.

As I mentioned previously, DCkid, no offense intended. I was trying to help you take a different perspective on the threat. I believe that the likelihood of someone in your area of coming to harm is much greater on the road than from a sniper. If you disagree, that's ok with me. You have the freedom to fear whatever you wish.

did anyone catch the Tarot Card found by the shell casing in the shooting of the 13-yr old.

    Inscribed on it was:

    <b>"Dear Policeman: I am God."</b>

Two different types of fear. A traffic accident is a random occurence, true, but one of those things that are a part of day-to-day life. It would be like going through life scared of everything outside your home...might as well be a shut in.

But this is someone willingly and knowingly taking lives. Think about it. You and I both know either one of us could die in a traffic accident at any given moment. Now pretend that there's someone high above your street shooting random people as they come out of their door.

The randomness of the act is there. But the accident is gone. It is replaced by threat. You are seriously saying they should generate equal amounts of fear?
