Hollinger saw what most of us saw last night. Good analysis.
Note the following from his write-up...

    in the chat:

    John Hollinger:
As a veteran Kobe vs. Battier watcher, gotta piont out that he's getting much deeper post position than we've seen in their past matchups. Kobe is 4-of-6, but all six have been turnarounds from about 10-12 feet. Usually Shane pushes him to 15-18 and makes that a much more difficult look.

So perhaps Battier was off his game defensively.

I was at the game and I couldn't figure it out why they didn't give Aaron 2 FT when he was clearly into his scoring move and they ruled it out?????

What a bunch of crooks bias this Refs are.

Not really, Kobe is just not worried about Yao coming in to help. We have no one to clog the paint so everyone is going to pull in closer.

Kobe's worried about posterizing Yao again?

    So Hollinger did notice
    1) Brooks not getting a continuation call.
    2) Fisher hand checking Brooks the whole damn game, especially on the last few plays.

**** Fisher; I am glad Landry totaled him last night.

Is it just me or are these lakers the most undeserving champions, even more so than the 06 Heat? When you watch the lakers play I cannot believe they won a championship with this soft, complaining crap they call basketball. They got extremely lucky last year in the playoffs, favorable injuries for other teams, and the magic played like they were shell shocked. I wish the celtics wouldve been healthy enough and crushed them again in the finals

Yes. I'm -this- close to dropping the NBA, even though I love the Rox with all of my heart. The recent revelations about the refs make me physically ill.

I'll bet that if someone went over game 6 of the 1997 WCF with a fine tooth comb, they would find some discrepancies that match what we've heard lately.

    Ugh.

At the end of the game they aren't going to call that.

Sad that we have to go 5-on-8 in our own house.

on another note. why is it such a big deal to laker fans when they beat the rockets? why do they feel it necessary to talk so much crap...dont get me wrong. personally, i like how beating the rockets is a big deal to them, but we should just be another game on the schedule to them....

    go back to LA b****es.

The Lakers had a foul to give and they were giving it. If it happen to our team I would be pissed if they call that continuation on the last play.

It would be much better if Stern had noticed.

Laker did us dirty and refs just turned blind eye.

Exactly the Ariza call is usually a no call. But the Brooks call they blew the whistle they just made the worng call. He was already up in the air when the whistle blew. He didn't even need the two steps that the rule allows.

Part of me is disappointed that Fisher made it through the game. If I were coach, I would have been sorely tempted to put Dorsey in and tell him to take out Fisher for payback on the Scola incident in last year's playoffs. You could have a wink-wink deal that you would cover Dorsey's fine/suspension and it would have set Artest off and he probably would have gotten thrown out.

The other part of me is glad the Rockets are a classy organization and wouldn't even consider this.

Yes, they had a foul to give but the foul occurred while Brooks was flipping the ball towards the basket. The Lakers should have fouled Brooks before he made the turn towards the basket so it wouldn't have been an issued but that foul call should have be a continuation. If that would have been Kobe, that fould would have been called a continuation foul.

true but just because you have a foul to give doesnt mean the refs can go "oh hey its ok this is what he intended to do" instead of what actually happened

if they were going to foul, foul a bit earlier AB was starting his jump when he got hit and the fact that he was able to get a shot up is even further proof.

Considering that the refs called continuation for Odom in the first half when he got fouled by ariza on the floor, spun and then layed it in (with no contact on the spin or layup) and they said that was an 'and 1' there is no way that this wasnt continuation.
