On ESPN's Daily Dime, he wrote that ESPN timed it and it took 1.6 seconds for Roy to catch and shoot the ball. This is an outrage because clearly the league office doesn't have to ask either team to do a thing to rectify the error. And give us a win!

It was the very final play, so in theory the NBA should be able to review it and give the win to the Rockets if its considered a mistake.

But, really, did it look like Roy took 1.6 seconds to get that shot off? Not to me. Maybe Hollinger forgot he was watching the replay in slow motion when he timed it.

Derek Fisher took 0.4 seconds to shoot the game winner for the lakers once! So we all know that is possible...... with the help of the time keeper!

0.8 seconds is nothing. He caught the ball, stopped, turned around, and shot it. I don't care how fast you are, that takes more than 0.8 seconds to do. 0.8 seconds is catch and shoot time. If you even catch in midair, land, dont' turn and shoot it, I feel like that takes longer than 0.8 seconds.

Yao's play only took 1.1 seconds because they stopped the play in mid-shot due to the whistle.

Roy pretty much did it all in one motion. I don't know how Hollinger got 1.6 seconds from that.

The league should review it!!! It was close but Roy caught the ball running away from the basket and had to turn towards the basket before releasing the shot, I think the shot took longer than .8 seconds. I think the ref that reviewed it was looking to see if the ball left Roy's hand before the red light went on, which it did but the light was slow. Rox should lodge a protest, maybe we can get this overturned.

yeah, i think it was actually right around .8 seconds. It just sucks that nobody picked him up. It was a good shot, an exciting OT but unfortunately we got the L. I wish people would stop complaining about the time. As long as we learn that we need to D up until the game is OVER. I'll take the L. just think of it as growing pains.

Whether it was more than 0.8 secs or not, there is no excuse for poor defense (Ron and Tracy) or poor strategy (why was Yao in there jumping happily?). Losing the game seems like a deserved punishment.

Durvasa, like Mike Frattelo said, how do you catch the ball then pivot around to square up and shoot in 0.8 seconds.

Why can't they appeal it? I mean isn't that what replay is for?

Once Roy catches the ball, how does it take Artest and McGrady 1.6 seconds to close the distance with him to challenge the shot?

Durvasa, in the play, Roy caught the ball in midair, landed, turned around, squared up, and then shot the jumper.

    Look at this picture:

In this picture, Roy is rising up for the jumper. That means he has already caught the ball in midair, landed, turned around, and squared up.

    And no time has elapsed.

The league doesn't care. This loss is going to stick, mark it. If this happened to the Lakers? Then maybe they would overrule it. Heck of a shot nonetheless by Roy.

You would think they would be able to appeal it. The ref in the game only checked whether the ball left his hands in time, not whether the clock started when the ball GOT to his hands.

Oh well. I honestly think its for the best that we lose some games like this early, so the team learns that they need to stop F$cking around.

It is pretty obvious that ball should be counted!

No kidding - too bad that we won't get it overturned. Let's just hope that it isn't the difference in us getting home court or avoiding a bad matchup in the playoffs.

    Say whatever you want.

There is no way you're going to convince me that he got that shot off in .8 seconds. C'mon guys, there's no way. .8 seconds? .8 seconds.

I'm not saying they should hand us the game; that would almost feel dirty.

But this is ridiculous. They basically just said, "oh, let him take one more shot..."

    And so he did.

In video, it takes 30 frames per second...
Then for 0.8 seconds it would take 24 frames...

I have checked out the video and it was over 30 frames since catching the ball and shooting... we should have won!!!
