I remember that a while back ... maybe 4-5 years ago I drove to a neighborhood in Houston where everyone would put up really nice decorations on their houses and you can drive the streets and look, take pictures, etc..
I have no clue where that was ... somewhere near I-10 ... thats all I remember.

Is there anything similar going on this year in Houston that someone knows of?

I was able to find Lights in the Heights http://www.woodland-heights.org/Events/LITH2007/
I dont know if this is the place that I went to previously. The FAQ says you have to park and walk but I recall that the place I went to before you can just ride the streets on the car without getting out.

Greatwood has a great neighborhood. Every other house is lighted up.

The Lights in the Heights is an annual event (and took place last Saturday) and they close down several streets, houses are decorated and they have performers dancing or singing. This year was packed!! I drove like 1/2 a mile and walked 1 1/2 mile just to get there! It was great there!

Shepherd Park Plaza typically decorates and gets all into it but I don't know about lately.
