Does anyone play the game? I've been watching "The World Series of Poker" alot lately and I'm really starting to get a poker jones. I watch Rounders at least 3 or 4 time a month and I was wondering if there are any pokers players out there?
Rounders is one of my favorite movies. I used to play poker with my dad growing up..played a little with college buddies...no plans to play again until my son is old enough to play and i can win back his allowance money.
"Listen, here's the thing. If you can't spot the sucker in the first half hour at the table, then you are the sucker." - Rounders Texas Hold'em is a fun game and I've been playing with my friends on occasion ever since I've seen Rounders. I wish I had the balls to play at the casinos but that movie scared me away from it.
I love Texas hold'em. Rounders did get me hooked on it and a few friends of mine really got into it a few years back. We even played for money and one time I came out on top with like $15 (we just pulled $5 per person). There are a bunch of other poker games I like also (Carribean, Omaha, Cris Cross, etc...). Omaha is like TX but instead of holding 2 cards, you hold 5, so the combinations are endless.
Does the thought of MadMax smoking a Cuban cigar while dealing cards with a green visor on bother anybody but me?
I play a good amount. A bunch of friends and I started playing about 3-4 years ago and we still play pretty often. I also play at casinos when I get the chance. I don't worry too much about people trying to hustle at the stakes I play for in a casino. Mostly just college students and people looking to try to poker.
I usually play with my extended family, and the version is whatever my uncle decides on. Of course, he doesn't always detail all the rules, which tends to lead to arguments between himself and another uncle. I tend to do alright although the fact that I am hopeless at shuffling the cards causes me much embarassment.
Yahoo also has Hold 'Em poker for free. http://games.yahoo.com/games/login2?page=po Maybe we could get a group together and play.
Yeah...I play in a quasi-weekly game with some of the guys, and I play in a housemates only game twice a month with the girls...Playing with the guys is better poker, playing with the girls is better...uh...food....and other stuff...oh, yeah..the music is better...
When is edit coming back? Anyways, meant to say that the game with the girls I live with is more interesting because they have alternating levels of interest combined with a growing knowledge of the game and/or competitive spirit...a list of the ranking of hands is always around at that game, and they love wild cards...oh, and the real purpose is for us all to drink the night away, so in that respect it's kinds like the guys game...
