I am in need of a replacement motor to place in my engine for my Santa Fe HO scale train under the SwoLy Family's Christmas tree. The gears on the one I have now came off, and it's working, but not moving. :( I need a new engine.

Does anyone know where if anywhere is a good Hobby Store where they sell these parts? There used to be a "Trains & Planes" hobby place on Westheimer near Fondren, but I called that number and they seem to have closed because I get the "beee-dee-DEE! We're sorry. The number you have dialed is no longer in service."

Hobby Store (trains, planes, models, etc.) in Houston (or Katy area)?

I will check out those other ones some of you sugggested. REPs for all those suggesting. Where is "Larrys hobbies", tmoney??

I took photos of it before it FAIL'd. :(

Yes, it's a SNAP-TITE track, not the regular slide-in type. I can buy the other kind of tracks, but my family helps me and this makes it easier.

N scale, now THAT is a small train, CaseyH.

There is a planes and trains hobby store off of 249, before louetta rd., on the right if you are driving towards Tomball.

I do not remember the exact name of the store, but it is in a shopping plaza somewhere near the bowling alley. Hope this helps, the store has been there for a while.

^ Thanks, man. I am closer to this one than to all others.

I also have a RAILROAD CROSSING GATE and many townspeople, telegraph poles, etc., and some billboard signs in which I changed the real advertisements for my family photos. I also have some cars I park around the CROSSING GATE.

I need to get the motor quickly, or Christmas won't be fun. I hate to have the train just sitting there, not moving. :(

I remember having those trains when I was little, I use to have buildings and stuff in the middle with lights and stuff everywhere, its was fun. But the engines on the locomotors use to mess up a lot.

That is awful. You are still using present engines? That brings no sense of wonder! Kids love the old trains. We all do!

Here's a good mock-up if you want to keep those crap trains:

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CuDn-Y9Txfk?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CuDn-Y9Txfk?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

But this is so much cooler.

    <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/V4T6mnwBDck?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/V4T6mnwBDck?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

After all, this is what kids see when they think of trains these days.

    <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jVfB6GhlwIM?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jVfB6GhlwIM?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

FAIL is me, I accept, on that quality... but I am thinking you just want to see how clean (or dirty) my carpet is ;).

That was a quick way to show you fellas the stuff I had "before"... since it was working at the time I snapped the photos I originally had taken and sent to some friends. I just Imageshacked them last night.

What are "present engines", Fatty?? You talkin' about the Santa Fe one as opposed to the old STEAM ones? I don't know what you mean. I'll research.

    Randy's Hobbies. Thanks again.

I called. James answered and said they don't have any parts, just full sets. :(

He said "Spring Crossing" on 2920 and 45 might have parts. I'm running out of options.

WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF "M & M" Hobby place on Chimney Rock?!?!!? FAIL is ME.

Swoly, just drove past a place called My Toys on Westheimer that had a railroad sign in the window.

There was even a guy on the street in a Santa suit holding up a sign saying it was 8058 Westheimer. Its in a strip shopping center with Tan Tan.

   , thanks, arkoe.

I ended up buying a new small set with a cheap locomotive at M&M's. The guy there, Jeff, is very knowledgeable.

He advised me on getting "conversion kits" that would let me connect my old cars to the new ones, because locking mechanisms have changed since I bought mine. They didn't have them at the time, so I left without them and thought I'd call back if I needed them.

It turns out that the new "knuckle" style locks can lock to my old cars. I now have all my cars connected, and I have a SOUTHERN PACIFIC locomotive.
Yeah, I think so. I think it was RC something something... and there was a car in the entrance http://www.mmhobby.com/info.html
