With all the Bosh talk, it got me to thinking. Who would you want to keep between the two. IMO, i would like to have Battier for his defensive coaching purposes. Having a defensive specialist on the floor would definitely benefit the team in the long run.
    What do you all think?

Martin-Chase-Trevor-Shane. I love this quartet for a contender team. But I guess Shane is the most likely to be traded.

Keep both but cut Shane's salary by half.

i'm just curious why any non contending team would want battier, he would certainly improve their wing defense, but at his age it seems like the only teams that would specifically want him would be the ones who are on the verge of contending as they are, i don't think anyone wants trevor after this year...

Out of those 4 players you only have 1 true shooting guard out of the bunch.

We need to send shane or jeffiries to a team that can provide us a with legitimate back up 2 guard like Fernandez or Jamal crawford.

Lowry played too much at the 2 this year thats on of the reasons our offense would get into a funk at times.

If you want any chance at all of beating OKC in the next few years (or the Lakers for that matter), Battier stays.

Battier is a better basketball player but he has more trade value and is older, so he is likely moved.

Battier is the more valuable piece. However he is also the more attractive trade chip. No one will want to take on Ariza's contract

I love what battier does for our defense, especially after seeing us without him for the last couple weeks of the season, but at the same time I feel like trevors age and offensive skills give him a leg up on battier. I would hate to lose either of them. If we get bosh this summer I say keep battier because he would help us be legit contenders, but if there's no bosh I would keep arizafor the future.

I'd like to keep both but if I had to choose it would be Ariza.

Shane is def. the better one-on-one and team defender.

But he is older and has more trade value...he's likely the one gone.

We get a slight defense downgrade in Ariza.

But I wonder...are we gonna see Trevor Ariza or his alter ego "Mr. Brick Shot"

If Trevor is the one who suits up, I have no problems....if I have to go through another season w/ Mr. Brick Shot.....ship him the hell out of here

    You keep Battier !!!

His intangibles Defence and leadership !!!

Also he is happy to play on the bench with limited minutes !!

Ariza wants to start.....and other building teams which we would trade with want a young athletic Player...

Trade Ariza/Jeffereries and picks for for Bosh

The sign John Salmons and b Miller

    Yao / Hill / Miller
    Bosh / Scola / Anderson
    Salmon / Battier
    Martin / Budginer
    Brooks / Lowry

iunno, i think as of now battier's man on man defence is better than ariza's, but with his age, his defence will certainly be on par with ariza's in a year or two

but for some reason i think our team's overall defence gets better when battier is on the court.

but if i had to choose, to give up ariza or battier for bosh, id still keep battier if we want to contend in the next few years

In Trevors defense, he was'nt brought here to be the go-to guy. He was forced into that role due to necessity. When Martin was acquired, he began to show thw reason why he brought in and that is to support.

Ahhh..interesting. Never thought of it that way. Was only looking at it from a Bosh scenario side of it. You brought up a good point.

IMO Battier will be included in the Bosh deal. I just hope we wont have to take Turk's contract.

Battier is done, he is on decline, Ariza can be better defensively, since Yao is coming back next year, and we have Martin and Brooks, so Ariza will be focused more on the defensive end, so I would rather have the young one.

Battier.....because he expires this year with Yao, and if you have to rebuild it adds an additional $8 million of available trade assets.

Trevor is a decent 5th option, but players like him can be had for far cheaper than MLE money.

All i'm saying is, seeing how our defense was non-existent towards the end of the season and with possible new rookies coming in, Battiers presence would give the team a defensive boost. IMO, he could be a great defensive coach on and off the floor due to his experience.
