Before the war even started, hitler had plans to attack America. He was building giant battleships scheduled for completion in 1944, after he expected to defeat Britain in 1943. The nazis had actually completed 2 prototype 'America' bombers before the end of the war. Some of their secret weapon programs were intended for the US...I wonder if he would have used the bomb on the US? I don't see why he would not have.

Also, FWIW, some of hitler's relatives had a long history of mental illness and madness. Are we surprised?

enamored - charmed, captivated, in love with (thesaurus)

I think I know what you meant but that seems to be a poor choice of words there, friend.

Hitler's biggest mistake was double crossing the Russians, as well as underestimating how difficult Russia would be to invade. Had he kept them alone, or even tried to get them to be an ally, WWII could have ended much differently.

I disagree- Despite being a monster, Hitler was one of the best, if not the best, speakers/motivators of all time. He surrounded himself with incredible tacticians. He was brilliant, but war wasn't his area of expertiese.

His top generals advised him to go to Turkey and capture key resources, but instead, like Fatty FatBastard said, he decided to go to Russia, in the winter. It proved to be his downfall (much like Napoleon's). I think he would have had the juice to fight us (Americans) off if he hadn't tried to take Russia in the winter. I'm not saying that Germany would have won the war, but it would have been a lot closer, taken longer, and been a hell of a lot bloodier.

If I remember correctly they thought it would weaken the U.S. forces in the Pacific so much that the U.S. would be afraid or hesitate to get involved in the war. This is considered a huge, if not the hugest, blunder by Japan in WWII. I also remember one sole person in the Japanese Parliament was referred to as being the sole opposition against attacking America saying "We are going to awaken the sleeping lion" or something like that. He was right.

Oil embargo by the US as a means of protest for the Japanese invasion of China.

Also, Lil it was Yamamoto (Sp?) that said, " I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant".

Yeah, I found the entire quote:

"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."

Hitler attacking America? That really is rich lol.

Perhaps Hitler didn't know America is the people's champ.

We'd of dropped 55 ****ing nukes on Germany before he could even blink.

    If I was president..

Hitler didn't plan on invading the Soviet Union in the winter.

The reason Operation Barbarosa got off to such a late start was because the Italians got their asses handed to them when they tried to invade Greece. The Germans then had to go down there to take care of business, along with dealing with the intense resistance in the former Yugoslavia.

If the Italians had been worth a crap in fighting, the invasion of the USSR would have happened much earlier & the results would have been much different. IIRC, even in the dead of winter. the Germans got within miles of Moscow...

An oil embargo by the US and the Allies left Japan with little time before they ran out of oil. Without oil they could not wage war on China. So they had to either attack the US to get strategic oil resources or stop the war against China.
