The reason that no Tejano acts are included is because Tejano music sucks ass. No one popular even sings Tejano anymore. Hispanics should be grateful they are even included at all. You don't see Asians crying about not having a day at the rodeo. If you wanna see a crappy Tejano band, there are enough clubs around town with Tejano bands playing.

Thats not even what the day is about, the only difference between that day and the others is that there is crappier music being played.

Well, if they're going to boycott, the rodeo should then cancel Tejano day and add some more good english speaking artists in their place.

bladeage, you said EVERYTHING I wanted to say. Except that if they want to boycott, they should do so at the offices for the Tejano radio stations that got cancelled and demand they put a Tejano station back on the air.

That, and wait for CLONING ;)

I saw PLENTY of hispanics at the cook-off last night. And Blacks. And Asians. And rednecks. And yuppies. All were having a good time, eating, drinking, dancing.

These guys should just shut up, eat some BBQ and drink a few beers. It might loosen them up a little.

I don't know about Tejano culture day or represenation, but to even bring up the idea that Hispanics should be awarded more rodeo scholarships is just nuts.

As a scholarship judge, we spend hours and hours of our time to review these students and choose the most deserving ones for scholarships. The scholarship judges are of all colors, ages and races and as the show organizers stated, 1/3 of the scholarships went to hispanics.

To expect more is just screaming for entitlements. This is a group that has given over 60 million dollars in scholarships in the last 50 years and these jokers have the audacity to b**** and moan that its not enough to them?

    Nonsense.

I wish all the Mexicanos would go back to "their" country. They're ruining it for all the Tejanos who have been here for generations and made an effort to acclimate themselves accordingly.

In other news, whites have called for a boycott of soccer, saying "show officials haven't done enough to include whites."

What a bunch of whiny b****es. Not everything needs to be tailored to some assinine sterotype just to make you feel included.

What they SHOULD do is make it Go Ranchera day. Invite Pepe Aguilar and Vicente Fernandez and watch the hispanics come rolling in by the thousands.

So, they're boycotting because there's not a huge Tejano group performing this year? I'm a minority and damn...what a way to pull the race card. I swear...some people these days.

I hope they realize that the HLS&R is MORE than just music and that the rodeo committee has contributed to the Hispanic community in so many ways. Scholarships, schools, and etc.
