It was either that or compare Gilbert to Hitler. The choice was obvious.

    Jesse Jackson <<<<

This has to be the dumbest comparison I have ever seen.

Gilbert was just mad and felt betrayed. Was he childish yes? But Jackson way off base here.

Plus if it's true that LeBron didn't return his phone calls all off-season I can see why Gilbert was pissed.

A slave wish they got paid like LeBron James did.

I didn't know slaves had multi-million dollar contracts.
I also didn't know slavework consisted of playing basketball...

All that talk about slavery in my history classes were a lie!

If Lebron is a runaway slave then someone should tell him he went the wrong way.

I agree. Gilbert, as most slave owners did, wants to have bronbron tracked down and brought back to the city (plantation) so he can be paid millions of dollars.

    Actually it goes like this:
    1. LeBron's hourlong special was dumb.
    2. Gilbert's response was dumber.
    3. Jesse Jackson's comments are dumbest (so far).

Let's see if anyone can top the slavemaster comments. It's gonna be tough.

I think it's a bit extreme, but most of you are missing the analogy.

He's not saying Lebron is a slave. He's saying Gilbert seems to have a slave master mentality, as in, "I raised you, I trained you, and now you'll suffer for leaving."

I disagree ofcourse, but that doesn't mean I have to think "oh Lebron can't be a slave he's rich!!".

I think you're reading into this far more than anyone else in this thread. It's virtually impossible to come up with a worse analogy than this. Jackson owes Gilbert an apology.

Rev. Jackson also did say this "If (Gilbert) believes that LeBron quit in games 2, 4, 5 and 6 of the 2010 Eastern Conference semifinals, then ... why did he pursue him and offer him and additional $120 million to stay in Cleveland?" and "When players or coaches speak disrespectfully to or about referees, they are fined. If Mr. Gilbert cannot prove that LeBron changed games by quitting, he defames his character. He should have to face a challenge by the NBA and the players association. LeBron has every right to an apology." which I do agree with. But yeah the "runaway slave" analogy is turrible
