Would you still have chosen Yao for his brief dominance, the money/fans he brought, overall great person, etc....?

As a fan of the Houston Rockets, my pick would have been Amar'e.

We should have traded the pick for Lamar Odom when we had the chance.

    Yao

still Yao. Wish the big guy could've stayed healthy. If he had, I'm confident he would've been recognized as one of the all time greats. Those years before the injuries, he was truly coming into his own as a superstar.

Much has been made of his body breaking down, but people forget that some of those injuries were flukes. The infected toe nail probably had little to do with his size, and if Chuck Hayes goes flying uncontrollably into anyone's leg, it's probably going to break.

Yao made us a contender. We didn't win much, but would have no different with Amar'e or ...Odom.

I'm sure if the Rockets had a do over, they'd still draft Yao but limit him to 30 minutes a game.

Still Yao. Then maybe play a bit hardball with China regarding negotiations (so he doesn't have to play there every summer).

Amare just rubs me the wrong way and he's definitely a guy who would find a way to bolt out of here.

Can't understand some dudes that are going with Amar'e

Yao had three major tools for NBA big man: offense, defense and rebounding. It's unic combo

Amar'e has no defense, he's an average rebounder, he's no leader and he won't led his team anywhere even when he's healthy.

Yao was much better as a player so no doubt I'll bet on him

this comment hurts my eyes to read. lamar odom is my least favorite player in the nba. he is so overrated and cocky.

i would take 1 game of Yao over Lamar Odoms entire career...

Still would have drafted Yao. It was the 2001 draft that they (Rockets) screwed up. Taking Yao was a no brainer.

Should have traded him to CLE for a future pick and draft Lebron? But would he help CLE win more games and we no get Lebron? Nooo!!! Me mad now. Universe confusing!

    Would still have drafted Yao.

Yao was the best player out of that draft. However certain things would have been probably done different. Maybe limit the amount of weight he put on, or play him in the high post more, and take advantage of his shooting and passing ability.

Still Yao. It didn't work out like we wanted it to, but I'll forever be proud to have had Yao as a Rocket. Would I be able to say the same about having somebody like A'mare? I doubt it.
