I know it's all water under the bridge, but what if we had drafted differently over the last 4 drafts? We most likely, would not have Yao, but let's take a look at the team we could've had at this time.

    2000 Draft

    We took Pryzbilla (#9) & traded him for Collier/Milwaukee's 2001 #1 pick (#23).

We could've drafted Jamaal Magloire (#19).

    2001 Draft

We traded picks #13/18/23 to New Jersey for Griffin.

We could've drafted Richard Jefferson (#13) & Zach Randolph (#18) (He was picked #19). We wouldn't have had the 3rd #1 pick, since we wouldn't have traded for Collier the previous year.

    2002 Draft

We most likely wouldn't have had a lottery pick, thus, no Yao. However, we might've been able to package the #15 pick (Nachbar), our non-lottery pick, & KT to swap with Phoenix at #9 & take Amare or Caron Butler. It was reported that if the Rockets hadn't been able to work out a deal with China, they were prepared to draft Amare with the #1 overall pick. So, I'm assuming that they'd have moved up to get him.

    2003 Draft

We had no pick as a result of the Francis trade.

    Our lineup today could've been:

    C: Magloire/Cato
    PF: Randolph/Amare/Taylor
    SF: Jefferson/JJ
    SG: Mobley/JJ/Piatkowski
    PG: Francis/Moochie/Wilks

We'd still be stuck with Moochie, but with that lineup, would it matter? Ahhhhh, if only we had a crystal ball to foresee what could'a been.:D

Just killing time until the real trade rumors start.;)

I just realized that my crystal ball was wrong. We could've still made the trade with Milwaukee, but had them pick Magloire & still have gotten their 2001 #1 pick. With that pick (#23), we could've drafted Jamal Tinsley or Tony Parker. Wow! Good thing I've got hindsight, because my crystal ball let me down on that one.:D

Our (revised) new lineup could've been:

    C: Magloire/Cato
    PF: Randolph/Amare/Taylor
    SF: Jefferson/JJ
    SG: Mobley/JJ/Piatkowski
    PG: Francis/Parker or Tinsley/Moochie(IL)

Your logic is still flawed. If we had picked Randolf in 2001, there would have been no reason to move up to get Amare in 2002.

Yes, & no. After Butler at #10, there were no players taken that have had an impact on the league, thus far, & Randolph didn't put up any serious stats until this year. I guess we could've traded the pick (after Butler unexpectedly dropped to #10) for future picks or a proven player. Or, we could've taken Butler, moved Jefferson to SG, & moved Mobley to the 6th man off the bench.

By the way, I'm not using any logic here. Just pure fantasy.:D

Ahhhhh, this fantasy world I live in has real pretty colors & shooting stars.

if you really want great hindsight....

we should've accepted chicago's offer of #3 pick for sampson.

dream and MJ together for the next 17 years....

my guess is we would have our 2 championships, we would have the bulls championships, a couple more in the late 80's, and maybe one or two more after the last bulls title.

    -thats about 11 rings :D
-dream is considered the best center of all time
-mj still is the best player of all time
-rudy would be the best coach of all time

and i would be the greatest fan of all time...ahhhhhhhh

    Smoothie,

You're living in the past. Those guys are just a bunch of washed up, has beens. :D By the way, Rudy would've probably never been our head coach. Bill Fitch would've gotten all the credit, since he was the coach during that era. Also, you could add Drexler to that threesome.

Anyway, back to this day & age. After being corrected by Behad, here's what our revised (revised) new lineup could've been:

    C: Magloire/Cato
    PF: Randolph/Taylor
    SF: Butler/JJ
    SG: Jefferson/Mobley/Piatkowski
    PG: Francis/Parker or Tinsley/Moochie(IL)

    Hey, that looks even better.

Please note how the players we didn't get are better than the players we have. Including Parker over Francis.

    except Yao, of course.

    Best Assistant of all time.

I think Bill Fitch would have been best coach of all time.

I've always been curious: If we had Dream, Drexler, and Jordan, would each of them have become they player they became? I'm not sure they would have, but who knows?

What if we made great 2nd round picks (Michael Redd, Gilbert Arenas, Boozer, Prince (late 1st, whatever), etc, etc)? What if we had Rashard Lewis?

If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas.

Hey, Cuttino Mobley was an excellent 2nd round draft pick. He should bring us back something very valuable this summer.

    PF: Randolph/Amare/Taylor
    SF: Jefferson/JJ
    SG: Mobley/JJ/Piatkowski

This team would win 41-48 games.

    What might have been!

All I'm saying is forget the past, just hope for the future. Nothing we can really do about past mistakes except not make them again.
