Did JVG do the right thing by not giving EG one more chance?

Hes now averaging 11 ppg, 7 rpg, 1.35 bpg, and is shooting 43.5% from 3pt. If we would have waited for him to get better, our power forward spot would look a lot better right now. I think we did pretty much all we could have at the time, but maybe we could have done even more. If we could do it all over again, would you guys have done exactly what Jeff Van Gundy did?

Everyone can look back and second guess it and say we should have done this and that. You didn't know he would come back and play at all. Look at New Jersey, theytook a chance on him and he burned them too before settling down.

He was no guarantee at all for us.

At the same time i am happy for the guy and wish him the best but he didn't work here simple as that. As much as i wanted him to work out and play here it just didn't happen.

It's hard for me to fault the Rockets for cutting EG.

Having said that I think I would have given him all four years just considering the massive investment that I had made in him.

Anyone willing to send Minny another 1st round pick for EG? :D Then we could say we gave up 4 1st rounders for the guy!

Is it possible to put a moratorium on any threads involving EG?

Seriously, this is a guy who was on waiver wires for a while, eventually picked up only to be dropped 4 days later without playing a game.

Props to Minnesota, I guess, for picking him up when he has his stuff together, but PLEASE, no more EG threads.

Yeah all his problems where with people here in houston and all he could do is remember them when he was here and hav eto deal with them. Now everything is changed and he is able to do what he likes and that's playbasketball.

Change of scenery always help players get their second wind and play better at times.

I think it's going to really help Vince Carters Career in the NJ. He will get a little more spring in his step and play better i think now that he is somewhere different.

Yeah, when you live in Houston you just have to be high, beat-up and shoot at women.

I am not sure he really has straighten his head. I wouldn't be surprised if something happens to him again.

It is tough to be in JVG and CD's position, hard for them to win.

It's not like Houston made him do that, but in his defense he had a lot of issues with his girlfriend and other things surrounding him. He is young, made stupid choices and he paid for them in a way.

He was signed by NJ to play but never panned out with them and was released by them as well.

JVG cut him FAR too early.

Suspend him, put major conditions on him..whatever...but to simply give up our rights for nothing.

    That is down right stupid.

At that time I don't think there was much of a demand for an overpaid immature skinny PF w/ the possibility of going to jail who has upside.

That's what I was thinking also. When I first read the title, I thought the thread starter meant that Hind Sight isn't so great after all. 50/50 being worse than 20/20. But IIRC the whole vision rating is based on a ratio, so 50/50 would be the same as 20/20 even though they don't use 50 as the normal barometer. But it turns out, he is using the 20/20 hindsight saying. In that case, this thread title definitely belongs in this thread:

How much of it was JVG's call and how much of it was CD call or the organization for that matter.

I don't think we can put the blame solely on JVG in this case...unless it was him who pulled the trigger on releasing him.

    Exaclty.

This is one of the main reasons I hate that freakin b*stard Grumpy. We have invested heavily in him and he just cuts him! Grumpy rather bring in these old ass ex-Knicks then give a young player a chance.
