I just saw some post debate coverage talking about one of Hillary's answers in last night's debate. Hillary stated that should Iran attack any nation in the middle east it will draw in massive U.S. military retaliation should she be President.

Does this trouble any of her supporters?

what would Obama do in that situation? Call Jeremiah Wright for spiritual guidance, or his buddies from the madrassa in Indonesia?

Well we know what McCain would do...

Oh that's right, it depends on which McCain shows up that day. He's flip flopped on torture, taxes, the religious right, big money ties, etc. I guess it might depend on which of his multiple personalities show up that day.

Obama would handle this situation by mouthing a teleprompted speech on race. Then he might go for a smoke, go insult some hayseed hick gun owners and Christians, and then go listen to an inspirational God Dam! America speech while watching his pastor physically dry-hump the podium.

This is an aside, but flip flopping is underrated, in other countries it's called not being a stubborn jack***.

Seriously, times change, perspectives change and ideas change. Where the hell would we be if the Catholic Church still had the same mindset as it did in the 17th century?

I would support her policy if it were measured, well planned, and had a vision that supports the American ideal. I don't see that in McCain, but he can convince me when he lays out his plan.

Interventionism was once a liberal platform. The crisis in Darfur is an example that it still rings true in some liberal circles.

I realize our military is overstretched and our finances isn't in order. In many cases, I would support an active withdrawal. But we're living in a fantasy world if we think we can pursue a policy of total isolation after Iraq.

    "Countdown", I presume.

It was Hillary vs. Obama. Who could try to be the most anti-Iranian and pro-Likud. Pretty ridiculous.

As Rachel Maddox sp? said Iran has not attacked another country since the 1700's.

The real question that is begged and I guess answered is if Israel attacks another country, as it just did just a year or two ago with Lebanon, what do we do. I guess it is fine.

The last thing I want to be reminded of is how the Bush campaign managed to take a very normal thing, that is to to change one's opinion over the course of time, and turn it into a horrific sin. :(

That's the response I would expect from any potential president of the U.S. You have to at least say that publicly, for obvious reasons.

    Who cares.

Iran is unlikely to attack any nation but Israel - and an attack on Israel woudl be really bad for Iran to the point of possibly triggering nuclear annhilation of its major cities - and while I don't think the US should be israel's yes-men on every single issue, it would be hard not to side with them in the case of an unprovoked attack by Iran.

An unprovoked attack on Israel by Iran is pretty much out of the question. There is really no need to do so when it's much easier to just use proxies. It will never happen unless it's in retaliation for an attack by the U.S. or Israel itself, in which case all sides would be facing an all-out war anyways.

We have about 560 sovereign nations within the US. Here are a couple of the larger ones...

It's a BS scenario. It will never happen because Iran knows the response if it does. The US would form a "coalition" to stop Iran. Do we really believe Obama would sit idly by while Iran attacks another country? I call BS.
