    Oh great, it's another Manny music thread! :p :D

Who do you think has or had the highest singing voice in rock music? I'm not talking about pop with people like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion, etc. I'm talking about the hard rock, classic rock, heavy metal, etc.

My choice would have to be Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. I got Number of the Beast recently, and it is insane to hear how high he gets on some songs.

Pretty good CD, by the way.

Geddy Lee (Rush) used to have a real high voice... not all Mariah Carey high.. but high none the less.

It has to be that ass clown from the band that sings:

"I'll Never Let You Go" that metal song from the late 80's.....

That guy had to be a woman......

What the hell was the name of that band???

Yeah, it is Steelheart. Good job Manny. The guy's name is Mike Matejovich, or something like that. FYI -- he was Mark Wahlberg's voice in the movie Rock Star.

As for the question, it's got to be none other than the Metal God himself, Rob Halford. I saw him live 2 summers ago, and the guy is absolutely amazing. He hits every single note that he does on CD, still.

He doesn't use the upper range as much, but he's got close to an eight octave range.

Dennis DeYoung of Styx with "Come Sail Away" is a good choice, Nomar.

It's too bad that the other members of Styx have decided to replace him with some other dude now.

Good answer!! I actually met and drank with the guy at a promotional party Sony was throwing at Chuy's on Richmond about 9 years ago when he was with the band Fight.

Anyway I was thinking the same thing at first, but I think the singer for Slaughter(Mark?) just might edge out Halford.

I have to say this guy named Jim Gilette from a 80's metal band called Nitro.
Although Steelheart's singer is pretty close.

The dude from Nitro definitely takes the cake. If you read Guitar for the Practicing Musician maganzine in the late 80s, Gilette used to offer a course for "mastering the metal scream." Supposedly, he could break glass with his voice, although if you look at pictures of the guy, he could probably break mirrors with his looks alone.

Geddy Lee, no contest. I can't even sing that high. He must be wearing some really tight underwear or have someone knee him in the pants every time...
