Yet another success for the troops in the WOT http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5620115.html WASHINGTON — The Pentagon says authorities have captured a high-level al-Qaida figure who helped Osama bin Laden escape from Afghanistan in 2001. Officials declined to say when or where Mohammad Rahim was captured — announcing only that he was handed over by the CIA to the Pentagon earlier this week and is being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Defense Department spokesman Bryan Whitman says Rahim is a close associate of bin Laden and has ties to al-Qaida organizations throughout the Middle East. Whitman says Rahim helped prepare the hideout at Tora Bora, a mountain area used by bin Laden as the U.S. invaded Afghanistan in 2001. Whitman says Rahim assisted al-Qaida's escape from the area during the U.S. operation to try to catch the al-Qaida leader.
Good job! I still believe that if we had remained committed to winning the War in Afghanistan instead of getting distracted, we wouldn't have many Al Qaeda left in Afghanistan.
Whoa - don't go there. We don't want to pour water on the face of a guy who assists Osama. No way do you think that McCain knew about this arrest when he voted against the waterboarding ban?
And yet a further reminder that the most wanted man on earth is still running around, dialysis machine and all.
No, I just find it very funny that a man on a dialysis machine can escape for so so long. Hell, he'd probably be dead already if he were waiting for the Canadian medicare system to fall through. Not taking anything out on the American troops. Even though as a Canadian, I'm unaffected by the "support the troops or your political viewpoint is crap" tactic, I do sympathize with them for the mess they're in.
As a liberal, I'm much more partial to bamboo shoots under the fingernails, electrodes to the gonads, and holding feet in the fire. What torture practice do you prefer? Other than waterboarding.
Some of us Americans are also. I always found it ironic/moronic that the folks who march to bring the trrops home so they aren't killed are the ones branded as not supporting them. Back on topic, congrats to our troops.
