I'd like to revisit this idea if we might! What do we think about dealing with Orlando to get him? He's that genuine 3rd scorer that we need - and allegedly Orlando were interested in a Battier/ Hayes package. He's not a great defender, but he has played under Adelman before, and was part of a top 5 defensive team then. He played significant minutes (16,24,17) in those three seasons. Having been with Adelman before he's obviously a great chance of picking up the offense! He's a big guy who can initiate the offense, good with the ball in the open court and a great shooter. If we're looking at Mo Evans, we could probably wrangle a package to get both of them, which would leave us with our MLE intact. Thoughts?
Seems possible that this could benefit both teams. Hedo is a more versatile scorer, but the Magic need some good defenders in the worst way.
Hidayet? Is he Hedo's brother or something I think the danger with him is that his value is probably at its absolute max right now. Someone is going to pay him too much.
we prob could have gotten him cheap before last year.. would only do this deal if we could get Artest.
Nah - Hidayet is his actual name. The yankees shortened it to 'Hedo' because they have such problems with pronounciation! For sure his value is at its highest possible - but the GOOD thing is that he's got a player option for NEXT season, which means that, even if he takes it, we are still clearing cap room for the 2010 sweepstakes! If he doesn't, well, we just hope that either we find another SF on the market next summer, or Greene develops quickly!
We wouldn't want both of them... I should have put in the original post: allegedly the Magic are looking at Maggette, who has 'said' that he would like to 'return home'. Even if they don't get him, the fact they're persuing other GF types might mean that they're looking to move Turkoglu out?
I've always thought of the to mean "AS IF...", in a mocking fashion For example: Person 1: let's trade BJax + Battier + Hayes for Lebron Person 2: sure So in this case, if he'd used it: "Hidayet? Is he Hedo's brother or something " It would've been attempting to mock the usage of Hidayet - but clearly that's an appropriate usage! So the or or all carry the connotation of 'cheeky playfulness' Does that sound right to others? Or do I just read into the smilies too much
Hedo is not available. He is, after Howard, the most important member of the Magic as a point forward. You can probably get Anglo Hedo (Thugleavy) or Afro Hedo (Omega 3 Salmons) for the right deal, though.
They just brought in Lee in the draft, have Bogans and Reddick on the roster and are persuing Maggette (allegedly) They lack for 'quality size' after Howard, and Stan Van wan't defense (allegedly) He WAS their second best player last season - but that doesn't mean he's unavailable.
Nice. Lets turn this into a sticky termed "the all purpose smilies thread." Anyone new or lacking in the sarcasm-detection/ sarcastic post making department can refer to it.
No Turkoglu!!! All you guys whos wanting to get us Hedo...I want to tell you he is not the guy we are looking for! I'd never trade Battier for him. Thats the bottom line. And Orlando won't let him go for anything less than Battier. So what, he's had one good season at the tender rookie age of 29...in his 8th season in the NBA, he finally puts up some decent stats on the board after sucking for the better part of his entire career. You've got to be kidding when you think we should trade a perennial consistent defense star whos been consistent for his entire career for a one trick pony who puts up some stats after 8 seasons in nomansland nothing against Hedo here, I really like his game and his clutch play, but he's not worth Battier and is a pretty bad fit for us...The guy we need to get is Artest! what happened to defense wins championships...
