I remember there were discussions about this last year in multiple threads, but I don't remember a poll so here it is. I think it's Dalgy. Hi-dalg(y)-o
i have absolutely no stake in the outcome of this decision...but i'm almost rooting for dalgy because i love your reaction to it!!!
Who cares? And, its Doggy... derived from Dalgy. Did anybody argue when they converted Francis into Franchise? Its a nickname people... it can be whatever it wants to be... and it doesn't have to translate perfectly from the root of their last name. And, just to pose a question... what's a dalgy? Its Doggie... but the only one who refers to him as that is Milo, so once again... who cares?
It didn't bother me except that the person I first saw call him Dalgy is an ass-clown in other forums. (just kidding!)
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/robertson/2137912 Dale Robertson has it as "Doggy". Although, Robertson has never been accused of having his facts straight .................
Joseph Duarte has it as "Doggy" also: Astros summary By JOSEPH DUARTE Staff A bone for Doggy ? Outfielder Richard Hidalgo is known as "Doggy " in the Astros' clubhouse. But they might be calling him something else by this afternoon - like "All-Star." With second baseman Craig Biggio finishing second in fan voting, Hidalgo is expected to be named the Astros' lone representative for Tuesday's All-Star Game at Atlanta's Turner Field. Hidalgo is hitting .292 with a team-high 23 home runs and 60 RBIs. The only thing that might keep him from getting invited is the glut of NL outfielders having outstanding seasons. If Hidalgo didn't make it, Jeff Bagwell (.290, 22 homers, 60 RBIs) would be Houston's likely invitee. "I think it's very special for guys to go to the game and have an opportunity to go," said Biggio, who finished second to San Francisco's Jeff Kent among National League second basemen. "He (Hidalgo ) is leading our team in a lot of categories. And especially how he's come back from injuries last year is a nice story." Hidalgo missed two months in 1998 after separating his right shoulder and missed the final two months of last season after undergoing surgery to correct a congenital condition with his left knee. ---------------- I did a search of the Chronicle archives, and nothing came up for "Dalgy", but a whole bunch came up for "Doggy". Robertson, Jose De Jesus Ortiz, Neil Holfeld and Joseph Duarte all have written articles with "Doggy" in them.

Hey, the Stros game is supposed to be on FSN tonight, but its not listed on any of their channels and I cant find it on any of the alternates. What gives?????????
i noticed that earlier when i checked the Direct TV guide. For whatever reason the Stars hockey game is airing. On the alternate channel is just a blank screen. I was looking forward to watching them too.
I didn't think a poll like this would have received attitude. Anyway CJ has it as Dalgy. Edit - Just saw the link was already posted.
