Ok this is your chance to give us all a very nice explanation on how you see the rox using MO. We know he can score many different ways , back to the basket, on the go, can create his own shot, can dunk etc, etc.... so
1)how does Francis, Mobes and Anderson mesh together w/MO ?
2)how bout substitution patterns ? when will he go out or come back in ?
3)when do we call his number to try to get a basket?
4)how often are we gonna use him and what situation is the one that will allow us to call his number ?
5)we are not gonna go to the old dump it in but am sure we will do some of that...how much would be too much ?
6)how is it gonna affect our guards play ?
....can anyone try to answer any of this questions?

    Shandon probably hates hearing this...

but you don't mesh with Shandon, he meshes with you. Shandon cannot produce off the dribble on a consistent bases, and he is not a shooter like Walt and Langhi. Shandon will get backdoor cuts, corner 3s, and the occassional full game of post-up with the right match-up.

    Other points:
    1. Mobley must have the lane clear for him, to be the most effective. However, I did see KT used at the end to come to the strong-side elbow. There are plays to steal from the triangle that do that. I could see Mo sliding over strong-side elbow to allow Mobley to streak around either side. I'll draw that one for camp, later.

Mobley with ball, and Mo/Francis running the zipper play is perfect. I really don't think this play can be stopped. Especially with Shandon and Cato, doing the second pick, and threatening alley-oops, respectively.

Generally speaking...I look to see Rudy this year give us plays Rocket's fans have never seen before. Starting with High Post manuevers and Strong-side stacks. Sky is the limit assuming Mo can learn to play motion as well as KT did.

I agree w/ alot form heypartner. Also...

CD talked bout some of the plays that were run for KT will now be run for Mo. CD also talked bout mo being open for the jumper. Does he have a good midrange? I think mo will like the up and down play. He will soon realizes if he runs the floor he can get alot of dunks.

I hope Mo can improve his rebounding. We need him to grab 8 rbs/g. Our main guards are good rebounders so it won't be too much of a burden if he ave 7 rb/g.

What concerns me is how much does Mo expect next year to keep him.

dont' ever agree with me...you cat. Like you said about the forum rules, your comments about basketball are for people who "can't think for themselves".

Right on the money HP. Shandon is the type of player that feeds off of the other players on the court. I hate to make this comparison, but he is like Pippen in someways. As you pointed out he can't do many things on his own. SA plays off the flow of the game.

One thing I am worried about is Mo' being TOO open, as in he received the pass from a guard being double teamed. Mo' has always been a player that can create his own shot and much of his offense rides on the ability to do so. The Rockets are going to have more motion than he was used to with the Clips. How he adjusts to that will determine how the team does this year.

Even though I am not too crazy about what Mo has shown on defense and rebounding thus far, he is a really good fit offensively. The type of PF I wanted was one that could play both facing the basket and with his back to it (inside-outside game) and is a good passer for the guards to cut off of and such. Ideally, I wanted the player to be able to provide these offensive contributions along with the defense and rebounding, but I suppose you cant be picky with the 2.25 mil exception.

I could see this team really clicking on the offensive side of the ball and scoring a bunch each night, but defense is going to be an adventure. I hope they can somehow figure out a way to plug up the defensive holes. I like the direction this thing is going though.

For anyones intrest, when i said "rules are for...", I meant it to be similar to thinking outside the box. Anyone familiar with this analogy?

    MManal,

I just hope he can pass like you say. The picking we used last year required thinking. Bullard, Rogers and KT were the best at it. Bullard was outstanding at determining when to pick and when not to. That requires reacting to what Francis does.

And if anyone remembers that Francis ankle-busting highlight DoD shared with us when Rogers was nearly losing his jock-strap too, it is hard to know when to help Francis with a pick and when to realize you are the one open and should take your spot.

I can't really speculate further about how we use him. Other than to say, it looked obvious to me last year that Rudy was holding back some of his playbook. We got small glimpses of plays for KT. My one speculation is Mo is not going to be prepared for our system outta the gate. We should give both Mo and Rudy until mid-Dec to really inject some new plays for him.

But if Mo is the passer MManal says he is, that learning curve will be much shorter.

    heypee: Does CD's opinion count?-
"One thing we failed to mention is that Mo's also an excellent passer, he likes the fact our philosophy is the open man gets the ball and you never have to worry in our offense. He just fits. We started looking at tape about the middle of July, and I was visiting with Coach (Bill) Fitch and he gave him a resounding mark. He really went to bat for him and that meant a lot to me. So I called David Falk, his agent, and we started off kind of slowly and David is one of those people that is sincere in helping his clients. He worked very hard and he was very honest with us. I knew at the point when we were a viable candidate and David let us know and everything just kind of fell in place. Rebuilding is hard and luck plays a lot in it, and getting Shandon Anderson last year and picking up Maurice this year, this really puts us down the road and I feel very fortunate that we can pick up quality players like this. I know Mo will have a very different team mentality, but wasn't he known as a black hole last season?

I think with Francis, Shandon/Mobley, Wiz/Langhi, Mo and Dream on the court, we will have no problem scoring on anyone.

And all of those 1-3 point losses from last season should turn into Rocket victories!
