Good showing for the pickup game. I can't believe we had that many. Chicken Boy on ron314 must have come while I went back home to check on the meat. I'm sorry I didn't get to say hey.

That's funny, Behad thinks it went off my back. ;) And Kam, you weren't in the game at the time, either. What's with the nosey refs on the sidelines, anyhow. Call your own, and go on to the next play. Time is a wasting. Like we say in pickup games...

Syracuse's D is the flava of the month. ;)

When I was on the court, it was more of a 1-3 zone defense, with me just grazing in my area like a cow in a pasture.

It was my idea to go into a 2-3 zone. I figured outside shooting was going to be spotty, at best, so the zone would be the correct defensive scheme.

So you're to blame. My whole game is from ten feet in, and I spent half the time locked inside the zzhiggins gang. Man, those guys were big. They were more than a zone, they were a zip code in the paint. :D

I thought it was Smeg's idea, but let me just say ZONE sucks!!!

They got like 5 million open shots. :p

    R2K - I bet I could take you in 1/4. ;)

No, the exact sequence of events was this:

I was positioned at the wing ready for the game to begin. Smeg approaches me as if he will be playing man-to-man defense. I question this decision by saying "You guys are going with the man-to-man? That's a little ambitious." Smeg then reconsiders the decision and instructs his team to use a zone. This all took place after I had recommended to my team that we use a zone.

the free throw line jumper was open consistently.

All I can say is that's the *first* time I've played zone in a pickup game. 2-3, 1-3-1, 3-2...they all end up being played the same in pickup..."hey, get that guy." Last time we invite trader_jorge. ;)

What's so wrong with the Uncle Joe and Cousin Billy, family reunion picnic defense.

so, I don't think I got to say hey to dragp, either.

I was in that game. It went off the shoulder blade area. I remember because I think I missed the shot or somebody on my team missed it.

I was very happy we played zone defense. I was able to conserve enough energy to play the next game after winning a couple of times. With man to man I'd be limping off the court with my surgically repaired (damaged) foot.

Kam, I thought you were going to take the ceiling tiles out with your crazy 30 foot arch 3 point attempts.

I think I was on HeyPs team during the infamous off Heyp call, and from my angle I thought it did go off him, but it's no big deal.

Smeg was in my opinion the best floor leader out there. As much as we discuss basketball here, he was one of the few actually talking strategy during the pick up game.

I'm also happy to say that I had 4 times as many passes as shot attempts, though I think I only made one shot the whole day (good reason to keep passing).

Yep, I don't remember who shot it but I had the rebound and heyp got a piece of it so it was flying around off my arm and then off his back, great call Behad! :p

Kam was on my team that game.

    Kam,

<b>"I remember because I think I missed the shot or somebody on my team missed it."</b>

Is this sorta like remembering it off the "shoulder" or "back?" Didn't we wait a few seconds with no one making a call? Smeggy told me to inbounds it, as I recall.

Classic brushed jersey call, with no one making a call, until Behad "The Kabitzer" did. Like in cards, kabitzing is fine, but don't interrupt. Play ball!

Damn, I play decent ball for being the oldest player on the floor, a couple of steals for breakaway layups, a sweet tip-in over one of the zzhiggins boys, one coast-to-coast bull rush with a nice crossover and up and under finish, and all you guys can mention about my game is whether I made the right call on an out-of-bounds call?? Geez, give the old guy some credit.  :D
