Whats the deal? The Spurs had long taken out their starters, and RUDY decides to keep the starters on the court. Why? So they can beat the Spurs' third string with their starting lineup. Wow, what an accomplishment [IMG]

He should have used that time to look at some of the younger players and give them time they won't see during the regular season. What if Mobley or Francis get injured playing garbage time? RUDY will look stupid ... almost as stupid as he did when he almost led the Dream Team to the bronze medal.

Yeah but the Spurs have won the last 8 games including offseason, we have to stop the streak SOMEWHERE.

I understand your line of thinking, but I believe Rudy is still trying to get these guys acclimated to one another. The chemistry is obviously not there yet and the best way to get his players to gel is to give them as much game time together as he can.

It sure felt good beating the Spurs though. Just saying it loud gives a sense of satisfaction:

Seriously though, the reason why we played 3 starters all the way to the end is because as priviously stated, chemistry. Francis, Mobley and Mo need to learn how to play together specially on those close games and this is the time in wish we accomplish it.

I agree 3Pointer. We cannot expect monster contributions from anyone on our bench (except Mobley who, let's face it, is almost not a bench player). It is vitally important that our starters work well together and not turn the ball over so much. That should, and apparently is, getting the most attention. Langhi and Collier will get their time, but we must set our priorities correctly.

Francis only played 4 minutes more than Duncan and Robinson and Hakeem only played 6 minutes!

And besides, when we had our second unit out there all at once we were losing by 15 points. We had to put SOME of our starters out there to avoid embarrasment. Duncan and Robinson played nearly the entire first half. Wow. They beat our second unit in the first half and we beat their second unit in the last half.

I'm sure Langhi and Collier will get plenty more opportunities to prove what skills they have. They have shown that they are going to need a lot of time to get used to the NBA.

I am happy that we won so the "Rockets are lottery bound" threads won't show up.

Just think if we would have lost with our first stringers against their third stringers.

Now....that would have been a debacle around here [IMG].

The only reason the Spurs got out to their lead was because Rudy stuck with Collier against Robinson. Also, the small lineup was an experiment, and Rudy could not have known how effective the little guys would be.

Most importantly thought, it is a pre-season game, so who cares who won? I am just happy to see MoT, Cat, Stevie, and Moochie play so well. Also, I am very encouraged by Dream's play, and Walt determination to get to the free throw line.

When you have Jason Collier,Dan Langhi,Matt Bullard, and Carlos Rogers on your bench you don't have no choice but to play the starters.
