...there are gameshows on TV where people are given a choice between a known valuable item and something unknown in a box or behind a curtain. OP is referring the the constant 4th quarter benchings of Asik and Lin, not the actual bench players.

Yesterday,

4th Last 5min 40sec. Nash was in for Lakers.
And had box score of totally 0 at every column.

But Lakers wins.
That's what your starter should do.
That's what coach trust reveal.
Nash's presence creates so much open for Kobe.

What we did last night?
Mchale's rotation simply kept ruining the team chemistry.

Nash is a 3 time MVP and proven Vet. Nash doesnt create anything for Kobe. Kobe has had monster 4th quarters to carry them against average and below average teams just to win close games recently.

Whatever his resaons were for not playing Lin in the 4th are his. He is the coach and he saw something that wasn't right with Lin. Beverly, over the last few weeks, has provided some good defense and energy off the bench. He tried it and we didn't win. It wasn't Bevelry's fault we lost.

Maybe this makes Lin mad and he balls from here on out...
