Any of you running windows ever have this happen? So I save some frequently visited sight in my LINKS folder which puts them on my LINKS bar with their cute little logos, like CC.net, ESPN, CNNSI, they all have their little logos which appear when you save them. Mine have dissapearred?! I restarted my machine and it still shows crummy old Explorer icons of an "e" and a page. What the hell?! anyone know why?
I've had this happen to me before and I dont know why. The only way i got them back was to delete the shortcut (including emptying the recycle bin) and then recreate the shortcut and sometimes that didnt even work.
whoops! I just found out its just a windows bug. I cleared out my ie cache and vioila, they dissapear! You can do it too!
Here's what I did to fix that lil icon disappearing problem. I did a search for icon files. Found the one's that like to disappear and saved them in a documents folder or somewhere they can be found easily. Then if you click on the link and go to change icon and link them to that folder... I think maybe those icon files are kept in temp files thaty maybe get deleted every now and then?? good luck rH
There's also a file called 'ShellIconCache' that pretty much caches Icons for the shell (funny how that happens.....). It can sometimes help to delete this file. There are no possible ill-effects to doing this.
